The presidential candidates and their wives insist on organic foods, and healthy diet.  However, their campaign does not touch the issue of GE and organic foods.  While they eat organic foods only, they do not reflect this in their speeches or platform.  The wife of Gov Romney, Ann, was cured of Multiple sclerosis because of organic food regimen.

Michelle Obama, wife of the Pres, prefers organic foods.

Pres Obama has yet to fulfill his election promise on genetically engineered food labelling.

Ms. Laura Bush, wife of Pres. George W Bush, likes organic food

Maybe the candidates are stalling because being in the political arena, they have to satisfy the various stakeholders.  And that would be an infringement on peoples liberty and intelligence to dictate what they can and cant eat?
