Soda drink may actually trigger cravings, weight gain and even leukemia - Dr. Mercola.com

Live healthy and long

Repost from Dr. Mercola.com archive | July 24, 2013

Despite repeated advertising claims, diet soda (I used to drink plenty of Zero and Mega drinks) with aspartame actually cause cravings, weight gain, obesity and even diabetes.

In a Journal entitled Appetite  aspartame and saccharine caused more weight gain than sucrose.

As for the link between cancer and aspartame and cancer, aspartame has been found to induce cancer of the liver in male rats.  In a longest study between cancer and other causes, aspartame has been linked to Hodgkin's lymphoma and leukemia.  The study came out in 2012

For splenda (sucrolose), the rating for splenda (I shifted to splenda from aspartame) has been downgraded from safe to caution

Milk Producers Petition FDA to allow sugar substitutes in milk

Live healthy and long

From Dr Mercola archives | March 13 2013

Two large association of dairy producers in the US:  International Dairy Food Association (IDFA) and National Milk Producers Association have petitioned FDA to allow unlabeled inclusion of sugar substitutes in milk:  aspartame and sucrolose (splenda).  The idea/objective is to reduce obesity in children (a growing concern in USA) by providing low calorie alternative with sugar/sweetener substitute.

Aspartame, after a series of processes in the body can become methyl alcohol which becomes formalin after absorption in the brain contributing to Alzheimer's, cancer and multiple sclerosis

Why Splenda is not so Splendid for your health

Live healthy and long

From Wizard Stack blog on Splenda

Splenda, sucrolose is an artificial sweetener;  it is not sugar.  Before I used to buy and consume a lot of Splenda.  They say aspartame is bad for the health.  Now splenda is also deemed unsafe.  It leaves the body unmetabolized.  It contains chlorine, just like, according to the experts, DDT.

The better alternative would be Stevia.  (I have stevia plant in my house and there is a large plantation in the PHL, I heard)
