Live healthy and long

Repost from Dr. Mercola archives | May 13, 2013

Fungus, or its visible manifestation, mushroom are one of the most potent natural cures in the planet.  They are more closely related to humans in terms of same pathogens;  note that the source of many anti infectives:   penicillin, tetracyclines,  and streptomycin are from fungus.

Health benefits of mushroom:

1.  Weight loss
2.  Better nutrition
3.  Better immune system
4.  Improved Vit D. levels

Cordyceps, also known as caterpillar fungus, or tochukasu, is favorite among athletes because it increases ATP production (part of molecular body chemistry) contributes to strength and endurance and anti aging.  Cordyceps is unlike other fungus because it grows out of body of insects.  Cordycepin, an extract of cordyceps is known to have anti cancer/tumor properties and is also useful for asthma, renal failure, stroke and rheumatoid arthritis.

There are poisonous and toxic variety though. So be careful

Other beneficial mushrooms are:

1.  Shitake  (Lentinula edodes)

2   Reishi  (Ganoderma lucidum)

3.  Turkey tail  (Trametes versicolor) The most researched mushroom.  It contains two polysacharides:    PSK and PSP and is known to be effective vs Stage 3 breast cancer, HIV, AIDS, Candida albicans E.coli,  and Strep pneumonia.

4.  Himematsutake  (Agaricus blazei)  has remarkable anti cancer properties;  contains 6 polysaccharides;  decrease insulin resistance in diabetics, treat polio, improve hair and skin, normalize cholesterol
