#Citronella oil vs dengue - 1st case of dengue reported in Japan after 60 years

Live healthy and long

Rizal Philippines   | August 30, 2014

For the first time ever, Japan reported case of dengue. (From Washington post - 1st case of dengue in Japan after 40 years )  Worldwide the estimate for dengue infection is between 50 to 100 million. WHOs estimate is at 390 million.   That is a large number.  Many nations are clueless on how to eradicate combat dengue.

I had my yard planted to Citronella and I think it is useful in controlling mosquitoes and other household pests

Here is an article from Cymbopogon genus plant (it is related to the lemon grass)  The Mercola article does not seem to distinguish between the Lemon grass and the citronell grassa because both seem to be used for flavoring and aromatherapy

Citronella oil + vanillin provides 3 hours of protection vs mosquitoes, comparable to the protection provided by chemical mosquito repellent DEET.

How to make yourself mosquito proof?

Live healthy and long

From Dr. Mercola archive | July 22, 2013

Summer in USA means tick and mosquito bite.  In the PHL, is is mosquito season all year round.

How do you fend off mosquiitos - the most lethal animal on earth -  even more lethal than suicide bombers, plane and auto crashes.?

Well the first to avoid is DEET - which is found to have harmful effects.

Your other options include

l. Spraying with citronella oil. Citronella grass is plentiful in PHL and I planted several in my yard. Are the mosquitoes less in my house (I think so)

2.  Cinnamon oil leaf (for killing mosquitoes)

3.  Clear vanilla extract with olive oil

4.  Catnip oil

For reducing itchiness and swelling from  insect bites, you can use the following:

l.  hot and cold compress

2.  cucumbers

3.  aloe vera

4.  basil

5.  peppermint

I have the 5.  Fortunately, I think there is not much mosquito near our house despite breeding ground for mosquitoes

Wearable patch makes wearer invisivible to mosquitoes for 48 hours - the world's deadliest animal!

Which is the deadliest animal on earth?  Sharks. tigers, snakes?

No it is mosquitoes. Mosquitoes still kill millions worldwide

Malaria which is deadly is still prevalent around the world, and dengue is on the rise in Singapore (and endemic in the PHL) can be controlled by using a wearable patch which makes the wearer invisible to the mosquitoes.  It makes the wearer's CO2, the only way for mosquito to keep track of the host, invisible.

It is called Kite Patch  which is backed by Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation and National Institute of Health.  It is non toxic (unlike DEET) and will provide protection for wearers from mosquito bite whether they be in Asia, Africa or US.

Its selling price has not been determined yet
