Live healthy and long
Repost from Dr. Mercola archives | August 21, 2013
A meta study involving 280,000 coffee drinkers show that coffee drink (2 to 4 cups a day) reduces suicide risk by 50%. Drinking coffee induces the production of serotonin, dopamine noradrenaline, and Brain Derived Neutropic Factor (BNDF) which induces the production of more neurons
Low level of low BNDF causes depression while neurogenesis induced by BNDF has an antidepressant effect.
To get most effect from coffee drinking drink it black without creamer or sugar. And go for organic pesticide - free coffee
Is coffee drinking good for you? Watch this you tube video

Exercise, stress management, food best vs loss of brain power
Live healthy and long
Dr. Mercola archives
It is not mental exercises as puzzles, or reading that will make you retain your mental powers but exercise. This was the conventional knowledge
Our earlier post said exercise is medicine.
Exercise is important in brain cell regeneration, key brain chemicals such as BNDF (important on cognitive tasks, memory, and overall cognitive functions)
Coconut oil is again rated very good in maintaining overall brain health (our PHL VCO has been shown to be very good vs Alzheimer)
Substances to be avoided: alum (in deodorants), aspartame (in Zero) and other sugar free foods, and amalgam in tooth fillings.

Fwd: Boosts Your "Noggin" in 20 Minutes, Helps Stop Brain Shrinkage
What promotes brain health? Is it drug? Is it food?
No it is an activiity. It is exercise like biking.
Exercise does the following:
l. It promotes the production of BDNF brain derived neutropic factors, which induces stem cells of neurotransmitters to produce more neurons; thus brain shrinkage is prevented.

2. Exercise suppresses the bone production of BMP - bone morphogenic factor. Apparently, slows production of new brain cells.

Picture of Noggin from Wikipedia
3. Exercise also causes NOGGIN a brain protein that is antagonist of BMP The more NOGGIN produced, the less BMP activity.
4. Other benefits of exercise:
l. More blood flow to the brain leading to
2. More nutrients and O2 going to the brain and more waste products and CO2 being removed from the brain
3. Strengthening of blood vessels in the brain (less chances of stroke and CVA)
5. Avoiding sugar. High sugar diet makes for sluggish brain activity, especially if sugar is HFCS, It is because sugar suppresses BNDF (I just heard at DZRH this health news; eating sugary food makes subject dumber
Types of exercises:
l. Stretching
2. Core exercises
3. High intensity interval training
4. Strength training
I think cycling, gym exercises and jogging and their accompanying gym cross training fulfills this requirement.
