Breakthrough of the year: Immunotherapy in Cancer cure in Science magazine


There are three modes:

1.  monoclonal antibodies that can be paired
2.  cloning T cells
3.  vaccines

There is a an article that says that in the next decade, 60% of cancer cures will come from immunotherapies. This industry will be about $35 billion.

What is immuno therapy?  It is aiding or suppressing body's immune system to fight diseases, allergies, or chronic condition.  While the body's soldiers are very effective, on their own, to locate the invaders and destroy them, the invaders protein/enzymes can fool the body's defense mechanism to ignore them.

One of the research center is that of Fred  Hutchinson  They have worked on cloning T cells to attack cancer cells, and also using radio immunotherapy (cloing antibodies with irradiated bodies, monclonal cells) to target the affected cells, which is more targetted vs. having radiation destroy both healthy and tumor cells.

I watched Fox News last Sunday and I saw a feature at Fox  News where a lady (Moreen Fraser) was interviewed and she said comedy was her pathway to cure her cancer.  Comedy cures cancer.  That for me was rather odd;  for ordinary ailment, we can say laughter is the best medicine.  But she asserted that she recovered from cancer because of comedy

I researched into the topic (I googled it!) and really there is a post that says "Healing Cancer Naturally" and it is all about laughter, comedy and curing cancer and even removing pain.  Laughter from comedy forms part of the whole range of emotion that can impact positively your immune system.

Exercise should be part of regular cancer treatment; and avoiding cancer.

When my father was pronounced to have cancer in l984, he asked his doctor, Jaurencio Jarin, who studied in Harvard and finished the Boston Marathon (before Tsarnaev sowed fear into the hearts of future marathoners.) that exercising helps one avoid cancer. (My father succumbed to cancer a year later).  This statement motivated me to engage in such sports as marathon, mountain climbing, and lately biking long distance

This article merely confirms that statement made nearly 30 years ago.

In the 2013 liver congress, it was found that mice which exercised 5x a week one hour a week, experienced less incidence of liver cancer than sedentary mice.

The McMillan Support group in UK supports exercise during and after cancer.

Snake venom may hold secret to cancer cure

 A joint British Australian study shows that snakes can convert ordinary molecule into venom and back again to harmless ordinary molecule.  How this happens is subject of further studies that could be useful in amino acids conversion. This process could be useful in finding cures for cancer.

I thought that Morinda citrifolia or the source of Noni Juice as an exotic plant to be found only in Tahiti or South Pacific.  It the Philippines it could be only in coastal towns near the Pacific Ocean?

 The health care industry

I came across two feeds on health care and they may be contradictory.  One is about the $3 trillion growing industry and will continue to hire more people.  Investors will earn from this industry, but  lot of people hate the industry.  (In the Phil, prior to 2000, it is a PHP 200 billion industry)

The other is a common cheap miracle cure for the big 3:  AIDS, Cancer, and Heart Disease.  Is iy curing by oxygen (hyperbaric treatment)?  Five years ago I had a student, Dr Perez who proposed a hyperbaric treatment.  He is a diver and proposed this kind of treatment; at that time I was not very much convinced that is going to work

The miracle cure more oxygen (Air 2l)

 That is why exercise makes sense:  more oxygenation takes place.  In times of emergency, high flow oxygen is administered to stroke, heart attack victims.  It is the theory and supported by evidences based on this theory that the big three are caused by lack of oxygen.  Lack of oxygen causes cancerous cells to multiply, for bacteria yeast to flourish, for virus to grow.  As to whether this works or not (and I hope this works, there is a glimmer of hope, and hope is everything for the terminally ill,
