Flexible joint breakthrough; Hidden stroke risk; Stop macular degeneration

Keep your knees, hips, hands, elbows and ALL your joints
healthy, strong and flexible for years to come

The secret to keeping discomfort-free joints is much easier than you think...

And no, it's not glucosamine or chondroitin. Those joint supplement darlings have just been knocked out of the spotlight for good. And once you've tried this incredible breakthrough, you'll feel why.

If you want to help protect your joints from every day wear and tear -- so you can keep moving comfortably, you've got to see this...

Depressed women face bigger stroke risk

I've never understood it myself, but many people still feel shame and embarrassment when it comes to depression. They won't talk about it, and they certainly won't seek help.

Well, I'm here to tell you that you've got nothing to be embarrassed about -- and there's certainly no shame in seeking help.

The real shame is in what could happen to you if you just let it go, because depression can lead to other serious health risks, especially in women. And ladies, if you're depressed right now, you could face double the risk of a stroke, according to one new study out of Australia.

We've seen this link made before. But in other studies, it's generally been found in older women. One study a couple years back found that depression increases the risk of stroke in senior women by nearly a third.

In the new study, however, the higher stroke risk was found even in younger women -- including women in their 40s and 50s.

Now, to be clear about this, not all cases of stroke linked depression are caused by the condition. In some cases, it could be caused by treatment -- because depression meds, especially common SSRIs, are also known to raise the risk of stroke in women.

But whether it's the drugs or the condition, it's pretty clear to me that there are two actions everyone -- men and women alike -- needs to take when facing serious mood problems.

First, never let depression go untreated. Along with increasing your risk of stroke, unchecked depression can also lead to serious heart problems. Depressed people are also more likely to engage in unhealthy behavior, including excessive drinking, smoking, and poor diet.

And second, avoid medications if you can (especially those SSRI drugs I just mentioned) and turn to natural therapies instead. While drugs do little to correct the underlying causes of depression, supplements such as omega-3 fatty acids and B vitamins can actually give the brain exactly what it's been lacking -- easing the depression and improving your overall health at the same time.

For more tips on easing depression naturally read my free special report here.

Some people may need additional treatment, but even in those cases drugs may not be necessary. What you really need is a skilled doctor who can diagnose other potential causes of depression, such as nutritional deficiencies and hormonal imbalances.

I recommend a holistic physician who specializes in natural hormone therapies. And if you're in the Southern California area, I can help. Contact my clinic at 855-DOC-MARK for more information or to make an appointment.

Depression packs blood sugar risk

Diabetics, you already know there's a lot more to blood sugar control than just watching your diet and taking your meds. Stress, illness, physical activity, meds, and more can all have an impact on your glucose levels.

But many people don't realize that mood can play a role here, too -- and if your mood is low, your blood sugar can plunge right along with it until it reaches the dangerous levels that mark hypoglycemia.

One new study finds that depression can increase your risk of hospitalization for hypoglycemia by 42 percent -- and the risks don't end the moment you leave the ER.

If you stay depressed, you could find yourself heading right back in, because the study in the Annals of Family Medicine finds depression can increase your risk of multiple hospitalizations for hypoglycemia by a third over five years.

It's not clear whether the depression itself causes blood sugar levels to plunge or if depressed people are simply less likely to take the care they need to control their blood sugar levels with lifestyle and medication.

In my experience, it's often a little bit of both at work.

Whatever the cause, it's essential to ensure your blood sugar levels don't fall too far, since hypoglycemia can cause you to pass out.

The signs to watch for include anxiety, shaking, and sweating. You may also feel faint, confused, and irritable. But if you're diabetic, you probably already know all about the warning signs.

The important thing is to make sure the people around you… loved ones, friends, and coworkers… know them, too because when you suffer from hypoglycemia, you may become so confused you don't even realize what's happening.

God bless,

Dr. Mark Stengler

The CoQ you don't know; New treatment could put Alzheimer's on hold; Ageless beauty secret

The "OTHER" CoQ10
most supplement makers won't dare tell you about...

You've probably heard how CoQ10 is one of greatest nutrients for keeping your heart pumping strong and your cells full of natural energy...

But there's something hardly anyone admits when it comes to this popular supplement -- and you could be paying the price...

Discover the TRUTH about CoQ10 -- so you can be SURE you're getting all the benefits you need to stay young and vibrant...

New treatment could put Alzheimer's on hold

Finally, a potential bright spot in the war against Alzheimer's disease: A new treatment that just might have the power to stop the disease cold -- even after the signs of cognitive decline kick in.

That last part's critical, because many doctors believe it's the point of no return. Once the slide starts, the theory goes, it can't be stopped.

Well, maybe it's time to throw that theory out the window.

Over the course of three years, Alzheimer's patients given intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) every two weeks showed no further decline in their condition as measured by three separate cognitive assessments.

The good news doesn't end there, either.

Brain scans revealed that the treatment also stopped the "shrinking brain" that's one of the hallmarks of the disease.

Those who got a placebo, on the other hand, continued the decline right in line with what would be expected of Alzheimer's patients. But later in the trial, these patients were offered the real thing -- and when they got it, their decline slowed.

In other words, IVIG could be the dementia-stopping treatment we've been waiting for, and it's not a drug in the traditional sense. It's immunoglobulin antibodies -- specifically antibodies pooled from at least 1,000 donors.

It's an up-and-coming treatment that's showing promise for a number of conditions, especially immune disorders and autoimmune diseases. And since it contains antibodies against the beta amyloid proteins that build up in the brains of Alzheimer's patients, researchers believe it could be just the key to finally beating this disease.

But first, a reality check. The study was small and unpublished (except for an abstract), so it hasn't been through the peer review process and we can't see all the important details that will help the rest of us decide if it's truly as effective as it seems.

In addition, IVIG does come with some risks, including a small risk of stroke.

So for the time being, the best option is to stick with what we know can help: adequate vitamin D levels and omega 3 fatty acids and control of stress.

The researchers behind the IVIG study say they'll have the results of a larger trial ready next year, and I'll let you know all about it as soon as they're published.

Sunshine has the power to beat prostate cancer

When it comes to prostate cancer, the biggest challenge isn't detecting it. It's sorting the common tumors that won't harm you from the rare ones that can kill you.

Doctors haven't figured out the secret yet, but of course Mother Nature already has -- because there's one vitamin proven to stop the most dangerous tumors right in their tracks.

The good news is that it's a vitamin you can get easily for free. The bad news is, you're probably not getting nearly enough of it.

Yes, it's the same vitamin D you get from spending time under the sun... but don't get if, like most people, you spend the bulk of the day indoors (and cover yourself in sunscreen when you do head out to the beach).

That's a big mistake for everyone, because we all need our D. And it's an even bigger mistake for men, because the latest research from the Harvard School of Public Health finds that high D levels have a powerful effect on the worst-of-the-worst prostate tumors.

The study of more than 2,500 men tracked for nearly two decades finds that men with the highest blood levels of D were 57 percent less likely to die of those tumors than men with the lowest.

In fact, of the 114 men in the study who did die of prostate cancer, 31 were in the group with the lowest blood levels of D -- while just 19 came from the group with the highest.

The study didn't find any difference in the overall number of tumors, but I think the survival benefit alone means it's worth making sure you increase your D levels -- especially since studies have shown it's one of our biggest nutritional deficiencies.

The cheapest way, of course, is to head outside and soak up some rays. But the easiest way -- and the best way to make sure you consistently get what you need -- is by taking a supplement.

You don't have to be concerned about your prostate to boost your levels of this essential hormone (and yes -- despite the name, it's a hormone). You don't even have to be a man, because vitamin D is essential for everything from bone health to brain support -- and it can boost the immune system like nothing else out there.

So get a quality D supplement and take it every day to make sure you really get what you need.

God bless,
