WORSE than fast food (and you're eating it every day)

A fine dining is a culprit too in promoting obesity and weight gain?

Subject: WORSE than fast food (and you're eating it every day)

If you're a health conscious individual, you likely cringe at even the mention of fast food.
McDonald's. Burger King. Wendy's.

AHHHH!

We all know that fast food for the most part is REALLY bad news, so if you're going to go "out to eat", whatever you do, don't eat fast food. Instead, try a nice sit-down restaurant in which an independent study recently determined that when compared to the golden arches and king of burgers, those who choose sit-down restaurants wind up eating TWICE as many calories than those that choose fast food.

What?

Eye-opener: What appears to be healthy at a restaurant, very likely aint healthy.

The reality is that sit down restaurant meals, due to their exceptionally large portions and often irresponsible preparation methods (with respect to calorie content) give very little regard to health and weight management. Restaurants want you to LOVE the food, be satisfied, and come back. For the most part, with few exceptions, that's their number one goal...and it comes at the expense of your health and that oh so lovely figure you're trying to obtain and maintain.

Does that mean you should never eat out? No, we eat out all the time. But you have to be aware of what goes down, and YOU have to be the one in control of the meal. Here are some tips:

1. When you order, ask the server to have half of your entree bagged up to go and half brought out to you. Instant 50% reduction in calories!

Chances are, you'll be just as satisfied with 1/2 the normal portion, but when the whole thing is on your plate in front of you, you'll always eat more just because it's there.

2. Give VERY specific instructions on how you want your food prepared. For example, order your meat grilled with absolutely no sauces, butter, etc. Skip the "pre-made" salad dressings and request olive oil and vinegar instead. Ask how things are prepared -- it's your server's job to answer your questions and you're paying them to be an expert and deliver to you exactly what you want. If you don't want a boatload of hidden calories, make sure you don't get them by speaking up and clarifying what you want.

Implement those 2 tips and you'll avoid 75% of the calories in a typical restaurant entree.

Want another incredibly easy to use diet tip? It actually only takes a few short seconds to implement each day:

==> 30-second daily trick FLATTENS your belly

Enjoy and we'll talk soon,
Rob

⌧ NEVER eat this type of yogurt

Fro Rob Poulos | Wed, Mar 13, 2013
⌧ NEVER eat this type of yogurt

If you eat yogurt, we have a brand new article from our pal Mike that shows you some of the problems with some types of yogurt and also which food you can eat that's BETTER for you than yogurt...

The Problem with this Type of Yogurtby Mike Geary
author of best-seller:  The Top 101 Foods that FIGHT Aging

As you've probably noticed in the last couple of years, probiotics are all the rage as one of THE most important factors that helps control your immune system (an estimated 70% of your immune system resides in your gut), as well as your digestive system health.

Most people "think" they get enough health-boosting probiotics from yogurt (the average person eats yogurt almost daily).  Unfortunately, there are some problems with yogurt that you need to be aware of...

1.  First problem with yogurt:

Some brands of yogurt actually contain live cultures and some do not.  Almost all yogurts found in the US start with pasteurized milk... that's not such a problem because once the live cultures are added and the milk fermented, you once again have a live and active food that's easier to digest than regular milk and has a reduced lactose content due to the consumption of lactose by the microbes.

Sadly, some brands pasteurize the yogurt AFTER it's been fermented (cultured) which kills the beneficial probiotics.  On the other hand, most good brands of yogurt do NOT pasteurize after fermenting, so the probiotics are still alive for your benefit.

The amount of probiotics in yogurt varies widely based on the brand and type, but I've seen estimates anywhere from 1 Billion to 5 Billion CFUs per cup.  This is decent, but low compared to some other probiotic sources we'll discuss in a bit.

The KEY is that you need to look for "live and active cultures" on the label, or another labeling that indicates the probiotics are still active.

2.  Second problem with yogurt:

Most yogurts in the US are sadly adulterated with way too many sweeteners, whether sugar, corn syrup, or artificial sweeteners.

Remember that sucralose kills probiotics, so any yogurt that's been sweetened with sucralose (aka, splenda) will most likely have a greatly reduced probiotic content or possibly even be fully dead.

And most other yogurts are produced to appease the overly aggressive sweet taste buds of American consumers, so they simply contain too much sugar to be considered healthy.

I always recommend choosing unsweetened plain yogurt or plain greek yogurt and adding your own stevia or other natural sweetener if you need extra sweetness beyond the addition of whole fruit.  Personally, I love to simply add a small scoop of Biotrust Low-Carb Vanilla protein to my plain yogurt (along with some berries and nuts) and it makes the PERFECT sweetness in my opinion!

I also personally choose FULL-fat yogurt and not all of this silly skim 0% yogurt that's out there these days.  Remember that the extra fat in full-fat yogurt satisfies your appetite and cravings so that you eat less calories later in the day.  Also, if you can find yogurt from grass-fed cows, the fat portion of the yogurt is VERY healthy and contains powerful vitamin K2 (shown to reduce heart disease risk) as well as CLA (found to reduce cancer risk and help to reduce body fat), and also omega-3 fats, which you also know are vital to your health.

3.  Third problem with yogurt:

The last problem with yogurt that I wanted to bring to your attention today is that yogurt is not necessarily the best source of probiotics, both in terms of quantity and also variety of strains.

Variety is KEY when it comes to the overall power of probiotics for your immunity and digestion.

Most yogurts only contain 3-4 strains of probiotics.  On the other hand, Kefir is a fermented dairy drink that contains anywhere from 10-20 strains of probiotics depending on the brand and type.  In addition, Lassi is an Indian style fermented dairy drink that also contains a much wider variety of strains than yogurt does.

In terms of quantity of probiotics, yogurts generally contain between 1 Billion to 5 Billion CFU's per cup, whereas most Kefir or Lassi contains anywhere from 7 Billion to 50 Billion active CFU's per cup depending on the brand and type.  Most yogurts are only cultured for 2-3 hours, whereas kefir is generally cultured for 12-16 hours, increasing it's probiotic content and making it easier for digestion.

Also, most Kefir is 99% lactose free and is by far the easiest to digest type of dairy on the market due to the "predigestion" that the active cultures perform on the kefir before you drink it.

Kefir is a GREAT addition to any smoothies that you make instead of using water or almond milk because you get the immune system and digestive system benefits of the probiotics in Kefir, which you can't get in almond milk.

Again, I personally choose FULL-FAT (for the reasons I described above with full-fat yogurt as well) when I look for a good kefir and I try to find grass-fed as well.  If I don't use kefir in smoothies, one way I like it is just simply to add a small touch of real maple syrup, vanilla, and chia seeds to a cup of kefir -- amazingly delicious snack for anytime!

Interestingly, I recently found out from their website that Lifeway brand kefir is made from grass-fed milk in ALL of their products (even though they don't include that on the labels), so the fat content in Lifeway kefir will also contain those ever so important nutrients of vitamin K2 for heart health, CLA for cancer protection and body fat reduction, and omega 3 fats for overall health.  The full-fat greek kefir by Lifeway is my favorite and I use it almost every day!

With all of this said about yogurt and kefir, please note that I do NOT drink regular commercial milk that's been pasteurized and homogenized.  It's a dead food that has harmful microscopic fat particles due to the homogenization.  On the other hand, yogurts and kefirs generally start with pasteurized milk, (but NOT homogenized), and are made alive and easier to digest again through the fermentation process.

For this reason, I choose to NEVER use commercial milk, but I use yogurt several times a week, and I use Kefir DAILY because of it's health benefits and great taste.

Lastly, if you're skeptical that ANY dairy could be good for you because you've fallen for certain anti-animal food propaganda that floats around out there on the internet, here's one last fact to consider that might make vegans want to switch to vegetarians...

It's well known that in the Caucasus Mountains and other areas of eastern Europe, that natives to that area drink kefir daily throughout their lives and routinely live to over 100 years old.  And in India, fermented dairy in the form of Lassi is routinely consumed with daily meals, and they display much better health than the average American.

Clearly, if "dairy was bad for you" as many so-called "experts" seem to like to claim, these natives in the Caucasus Mountains that drink dairy every day of their lives wouldn't be living to 100 years old!  Just shows you to beware of who you trust for your health information.

I have another article coming up soon for you about why dairy fat is being shown in many studies to PROTECT you from heart disease, despite the false propaganda you've been fed for years now about dairy fat being "deadly".  This shocks most people!  But there's a lot more to the story and I'll explain more in the next article on this topic coming soon.

Lastly for today, now that you know the vital importance of probiotics to your digestion, immunity, and overall health, make sure to check this out:

Find out if you have a DANGEROUS bacterial imbalance in your gut

Also, remember that VARIETY of probiotics is KEY... that's why in addition to kefir, lassi, yogurt, and fermented veggies (krauts, kvaas, etc) as good sources for a variety of strains of probiotics, I also personally take this powerful probiotic supplement daily, which I think is particularly powerful due to the micro-encapsulation technology which keeps the probiotics alive through your harsh stomach so that they can properly colonize your intestines.

The bitter TRUTH about STEVIA (avoid this)

You already know that keeping your blood sugar from spiking is one of the KEY's to cutting flab and keeping it off...

...but sometimes, it can be tough!

After all, we all get our sweet cravings.

And up until now, there weren't many good options to satisfy those cravings AND keep your blood sugar in check.

If you wanted an alternative to sugar, you used to have one choice:

"Fake Sugars" like aspartame, sucralose and saccharine.

But as a reader of this newsletter, you know to steer well clear of these "diet
sugars" that can not only cause you to gain more weight, but have also been
linked to many diseases including cancer, heart disease and... ironically,
diabetes.

Did you know Aspartame was once listed by the Pentagon as a biochemical warfare agent?  Crazy but true! Anyway...

...you probably already know about one of my "go to" healthy sugar alternatives, the Stevia plant from South America.

And while many folks love replacing pancreas-pummeling sugar with it, some
people are disappointed by a distinct bitter aftertaste that can last for hours
when used too often.

The SNEAKY reason for Stevia's "Bitterness"?

The stevia plant has two parts to it: rebaudioside and stevioside.

While both parts can produce a bitter aftertaste for some folks, rebaudioside
contains the least, and is barely detectable.

Stevioside, by itself, can produce a much more bitter taste.

Problem solved?

Not quite.

It's hard work just extracting the good stuff from the stevia plant.

So to save money, many big brand companies simply use the entire plant, and
that's mainly why some folks are disappointed with the aftertaste.

Well, a few months ago I heard about a small company that was producing their
own version of Stevia, but ONLY using the non-bitter stuff.

That's why Kalen and I have added "Slimtevia" to our healthy sugar-alternative arsenal.

Healthy sugar-alternative with no bitter aftertaste... <<< Click here

Here's why we are loving Slimtevia and I think you will be too:

1. It's 3X Sweeter! Slimtevia is three times sweeter than sugar (so you use less of it)...

...of course it's also more healthful, and can help weight loss and fight
diabetes since it doesn't spike your blood sugar.

and

2. It's 19% cheaper! For a product that only uses the sweetest, most expensive part of the Stevia plant, Slimtevia is actually 19% cheaper than many leading Stevia brands, ounce for ounce. Bonus!

So you're ready to run out to your local health food store and try some of this
great tasting, fat-fighting stuff for yourself?

Not so fast, Kimosabe...

You won't find Slimtevia in your local supermarkets (not yet anyway), and not even the all-natural stores.

The only way to get it right now is directly through a partnership we have with the supplier (which keeps the price low, as there are no distributors involved).

Healthy sugar-alternative with no bitter aftertaste... <<< Click here

I don't have to tell you... sugar cravings can be HARD to fight...

...and sometimes if you fight them too hard, you can find yourself in the middle
of an all-out sugar binge way too often.

If you are looking to put an end to that without the chance of a bitter
aftertaste, I think you'll really love sweetening your day without the risks with a
little Slimtevia.

Enjoy and I'll be back soon with more fast fit tips,
Rob

3 things that can destroy your metabolism and make you fat

Live healthy and long

From Rob Poulos

There are three things that can spoil our metabolism and make you fat:

l.  Caffeine with lots of sugar.  Coffee is preferred not to be taken with fructose sugar.  Too much sugar make you insensitve to insulin causing your body to pump out more insulin.  Too much insulin makes for he lower production of pectin, your fat is not metabolized.  Eating liquid carbs and not real carbs make you crave for more food.

2.  Artificial sweeteners:   sucrolose (splenda) and aspartame (sweet and low, equal,) are tough on thyroid, and cause hypothyroidism.  It means low metabolism leading to more fats  Moreover, they cause more production of cortisol, and cortisol makes you retain fat even in a low calorie state. Try lemon, cucumber with water. or the latest:  stevia.

3. Are you listening to your body?

Your office work may lull you into inactivity and may ignore what the body is trying to tell you:  be active.  Some signs:  slumping, yawning,  feeling tense or anxious,

I don't have to tell you that it seems like everywhere you look there are people
making outrageous claims about some new synthetic pill that can help you
fight the battle of the bulge…

You know we both despise that kind of junk…

And you probably also agree it sure is nice when you discover that something
that is backed by dozens and dozens of lab studies and solid research that
actually does help fight bellyflab is also widely regarded as safe AND natural-

-now that's something we can all agree on!

The quote below from a VERY well known doctor is just the latest in a long line
of supported studies showing the continued effectiveness of this fatloss super
drink:

"…you'd lose up to 10lbs in 4-6 weeks doing nothing but taking green tea.
Green tea increases your daily flab burning rate by 43%"

-Dr. Nicholas Perricone, MD, FACN

Now that sounds like something you could get behind, replace your morning or
afternoon coffee with green tea and fight belly flab at the same time!

So you're ready to load up on Green Tea, or you're already drinking it you say?

HOLD YOUR HORSES!  THIS AIN'T ABOUT REGULAR OLD GREEN TEA…

First, there are a couple of things you need to know, so you don't make some
common mistakes:

1. There is actually another kind of tea that works better than green tea – in
fact, one particular study showed it burns 250% more calories than green tea*…

Yes, that's amazing and NOT A MISPRINT!

The name of this type of tea is called 'Oolong', and it had been used in China
as a weight loss and health remedy for hundreds of years.

Now before you go out and buy Oolong tea, you eager little beaver, you must know
that all Oolong is not created equal-

Check this out:

You'll be glad to know there is a particular company that has sold over 4
million boxes of Oolong/Wulong tea that is grown in Anxi region of the Fujian
province at a very high altitude.

What exactly is the Anxi region of the Fujian province?

I don't know, but that's not important…

What IS important is that because of the high altitude, the part of the tea that
burns fat (polyphenol) is super concentrated.

You guessed it, 'super concentrated' means it works better.

In fact, each cup of this special 'high mountain' Oolong tea can burn more flab
than some regular strands of Oolong!

This would mean it would take more cups of other types of less powerful Oolong
to equal a cup of Wu-Long, let alone standard old Green Tea.

I also found out the company who produces and ships this tea, Okuma, have been
around for quite a while. You may have heard the name before, since they've been
mentioned by Bill Phillips of 'Body For Life' fame and even on the 'Rachel Ray'
TV show.

Alright, so here's how you can try some of this potent stuff for yourself

A while back I contacted Okuma because I wanted some of this stuff, as I knew if it
also tasted reasonably good, than you would be as excited as I am to test it
out.

And since then, thousands of our newsletter readers have enjoyed the tea as
well, so I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when you open your first box too.

>>> Click here to drink and burn more flab faster… (20% OFF SALE TODAY ONLY)

Anyway, they have a bunch of different packages to choose from, plus a 20% off
sale going on today only...

...of course it is up to you if you want to give it a try.

This one was a no-brainer for us.

Cheers!
Rob

P.S. We also noticed this stuff seems to have some other side health benefits
beyond just the fat burning effects. Check out what this person had to say:

"I was really concerned that Wu-Long would not work for me because I was already
a healthyweight. I have used Wu-Long for just 3 weeks now and have lost 10.5lbs,
2 in. in my waist and 2 in. in my thighs and hips. Also, my skin has
a nice glow that I haven't seen in a while. I am completely satisfied with my
results and would recommend the tea to anyone." Patricia Barnes

Fwd: Hey, NEVER grill meat, unless you do this...

Grilling meat is a no no if you do not want to catch cancer.  Grilling causes the formation of HCA (heterocyclic amines)  But doing this can be a simple trick to prevent HCA formation and make the grilling healthy.

You may have heard conflicting reports in the news lately about whether or not
grilling your meat is healthy...

...that's why in today's guest article from our nutrition specialist Mike,
you'll learn the TRUTH about the carcinogenic compounds that could be harming
you, as well as this 1 simple trick you must use that can put an end to these
cancer-related compounds so you can enjoy your BBQ worry-free!

NEVER Grill Meat, Unless You Do This
by Mike Geary, Certified Nutrition Specialist
Author, The Truth About Six Pack Abs

Most people aren't aware that when you
cook meat (whether it's grilled,
broiled, or seared) there are
carcinogenic compounds that can form
called HCA's (heterocyclic amines).

Now don't panic... you ingest various
carcinogens all the time, even with some
vegetables.

You can always protect
yourself with more antioxidants.

Please Note: When you cook meat in a water base as opposed to grilling,
broiling, or searing, you eliminate the harmful HCAs. So for example, meats
cooked in a soup, or meats cooked in a crock pot will not have the problem of
the carcinogenic HCAs and is a healthier way to cook meat.

But let's face it... grilled meat tastes awesome and there's no way I'm giving
up my grass-fed steak from the grill, or my grass-fed burgers!

That's why it's important to know that there's a way you can use spices to both
counteract, and also drastically reduce the carcinogens formed when you grill
meat...

Here's the trick:

If you're going to grill meats, marinating meats for at least several hours
beforehand in liquid mixtures that contain rosemary and other herbs/spices can
dramatically help to reduce HCA's (heterocyclic amines), which are those
carcinogenic compounds that can form when meats are grilled. It appears that the
highly potent antioxidants in these herbs prevent HCA formation. So using
rosemary, thyme, garlic, oregano and other spices in a meat marinade before
grilling meats can drastically reduce any carcinogens that normally would form
on grilled meat and give you a healthier meal, that's also very tasty!

The antioxidants in rosemary and thyme from a marinade were specifically cited
in studies at being powerful inhibitors of HCA formation when grilling meats.
But it was also noted that other spices such as garlic, oregano, and others can
help to prevent HCA formation as well, so I suggest using a variety, which
tastes great anyway!

One more important point about grilling meat:

Remember that the more well-done a meat is cooked, the higher concentration of
carcinogenic HCA's can form, so rare, medium-rare, or medium are healthier
choices than well-done. I've never understood why anybody would want to ruin a
good steak by burning it to oblivion anyway. But hey, if you're one of those
folks that likes your steaks well-done, just remember that you're eating a lot
more carcinogens than a steak that's cooked less, so make sure to load up on
your antioxidants (spices, teas, berries, etc) to help combat those extra
carcinogens.

Washing down your barbequed meal with a glass of unsweetened iced tea (rich in
antioxidants) and also a good salad with lots of raw veggies can provide the
antioxidants needed to counteract the effect of HCAs in your body from grilled
meat.

By the way, even charring vegetables on the grill creates different carcinogens
such as acrylamides, so don't think that the negative effect of charring only
applies to meats.

Hey, we all love a great barbeque, so no need to give that up just because of
HCAs or acrylamides, but at least now you know how to counteract the effects of
these in your body to protect yourself, and also how to use spices to
drastically reduce the formation of HCAs on grilled meat!

Enjoy that next barbeque in a healthier way!
