Okra is good for high blood presssure and diabetes

Live healthy and long

If you want to avoid statins and commercial antidiabetes drug, you can take this common vegetable - called lady finger.  or gumbo,   bhindi,  or bhindai  in other places.  It is also an aphrodisiac.

(Scientific name:   Abelmoschus escalantus)

It is rich in calcium which contributes to the lowering of high BP.  My neighbor is taking okra, is diabetic and boasts she no longer takes metformin.  Her blood sugar is normal.  Her relatives in US swear by okra in normalizing their bp.

It is rich in anti oxidants and rich in fibers and thus helps in weight loss.  It normalizes the rate of absorption of sugar from the intestinal tract. It is rich in potassium, magnesium and calcium.  Calcium and potassium helps reduce high bp.

Cholesterol lowering properties:  "Okra's mucilage binds cholesterol and bile acid carrying toxins dumped into it by the filtering liver." (from Pyroenergen)

It is good for maintaining healthy and smooth skin that is why Cleopatra in ancient times and Yang Guafei ate okras.

Here are the links for the okra articles vs hypertension and diabetes:

Okra is rich in calcium; bananas contain plenty of potassium good vs high bp

Okra health benefits from Pyroenergen  <no wonder, large farms in Laguna grow okra for export to Japan)

For lowering of blood sugar, cut okra into pieces and soak in water and let it stand overnight.  Drink the water.  Do this daily

A visit to the former classmate's organic farm

Live healthy and long

Rizal  PHL   |  April 30, 2013

                                       Organic farm produce

I just visited the farm of a former class classmate which grows organic fruits and vegies in Jalajala Rizal.  It is near a dairy facility that produces carabao milk

Some facts:

l.  For water supply she uses wind power.  However at the time we visited the farm, there was little wind and it was not turning.   (Maybe the design needs improving.  It uses a split plastic drum for vanes)

2.  No pesticide is used;  shrubs that are vs insects like marigold are planted everywhere.

3.  For fertilizer, compost and manure are used.  Vermiculture is used extensively.

4.  She put up the farm 2 years ago in pursuit of healthy living

The lady owner is searching for buyers and will expand her farm accordingly depending on the demand.

Okra for diabetes cure

Live healthy and long

Angono, Rizal PHL   March 18, 2013

My diabetes mate neighbor talked to me this morning and I learned that her sister who is in US and who also has diabetes told her that her MD in California prescribed okra  rather than usual Western medicine to cure her diabetes.  My neighbor said ever since she was on okra, her blood sugar became normal and she does not have to take prescription/pharma drugs

That news indicated that even in US, there is a growing trend to go for natural, cures, like Okra for lifestyle diseases.

Fwd: The Gluten Shocker

This is about lectin.  Lectin, a sugar molecule found in many food like wheat, attaches itself to the gut.  However it can be identified as foe, and cause inflammation/allergic reaction.  That is why we get so many symptoms.

ONe of the interesting anti lectin ingredient is okra.  The other is cranberry juice.  For their slippery characteristic.

                                                               Okra

2.  The common vegetable, Okra which lowers cholesterol and blood sugar (I am doing the therapy right now to be weaned from metformin)

3.  Deaths from Avandia;

                                                           Papaya leaves for dengue

4.  Pounding papaya leaves and giving the same to victims of dengue to raise the blood platelet count.
