Heart Surgeon corrects long held belief that high cholesterol is the cause of heart disease

Live healthy and long

August 29, 2015

From Sott Heart Surgeon speaks the truth about heart disease

Inflammation, not cholesterol is the cause of heart disease

From Dr Hyman, sugar not eggs cause heart attacks

By Dr. Dwight Lundell
Prevent Disease
March 1, 2012

The article was written heart surgeon. He has done 5,000 or so heart surgeries and is considered an opinion maker.  The long held belief for heart health, is that we need to lower cholesterol level, have a low fat diet, as this is the cause of heart disease. About 25% of the American population take statin medications, but despite this: 75 million suffer from heart disease, 20 million have diabetes and 75 million have pre diabetes. He says it is time to correct this misconception as this does not work.  The current findings is that inflammation of the arterial wall is the real cause of heart disease.

Blood would flow freely in our blood vessel if there were no inflammation.

What is inflammation?

Do not deprive yourself of this, or else you have 2.5x risk of getting inflammation and heart disease

Live healthy and long

From Dr. Mercola archives | June 27, 2013

About 41 million Americans sleep less than 6 hours a day and run the risk of having chronic inflammation and heart disease (inflammation causes constriction of blood vessels) and poor circulation.   2.5x more than those who dont.

Sleeping late has the following disadvantage:

l.  Poor memory;

2.  Weakened immune system

3.  Accelerate tumor growth;

4.  Causes pre diabetic stage

Avoid sleeping pills though because they cause amnesia and risk of dying.

Sleep is the result of interaction between sleepiness  and noise.  If noise is greater than sleepiness you cannot sleep:

Tips for getting enough sleep:

l.  Have  a sleep sanctuary.  maintain temp between 60 -80 degrees F.

2.  Stop using gadgets before going to bed.

3.  Exercise before going to bed

4.  Alcohol tends to prevent good good night sleep

Penn State Researchers - Cocoa controls blood sugar

Live healthy and long

From Newsmax Health by Nick Tate | June 13, 2013

Researchers found out that few cups of cocoa help people control diabetes and other form of inflammation related diseases.  This was tested in mice.  (Not yet in people)

Experiments showed that feeding the mice 10 tablespoons of sugar (equivalent of 5 cups of cocoa) in a l0 week period showed the effects on reduction of disease and inflammation to be equivalent of those eating non fatty diet.  The triglycirides in the liver was reduced by 32% (the effect is significant)

Most researchers tend to stay away from chocolate because it is high in fat and sugar.  However, cocoa is low in fat and low in sugar and contains plenty of polyphenolic compounds  which is linked to great health benefits  just like in wine and tea.

The Latest Side Effect of Cholesterol Drugs

Statins increase the risk of strains and sprains. So what is going to be:  muscle strains and sprains or high cholesterol?  Are there other drugs beside statins that can cure/lower cholesterol level.  But it is not all about cholesterol;  it can be about inflammation

The Latest Side Effect of Cholesterol Drugs
Dear Jorge,
Have you noticed a little added soreness after you started taking cholesterol medication? If you have, you're not alone.
A recent study confirms people taking popular cholesterol drugs called statins (such as "Lipitor" and "Zocor") are at an increased risk of suffering muscle and joint problems, while experiencing a greater incidence of strains and sprains. Statins are used to regulate cholesterol and prevent heart disease.
The study looked at roughly 14,000 active U.S. soldiers and veterans and their susceptibility to muscle and joint problems. Researchers selected this cohort because they are typically active individuals who may be a little more prone to injury than the average citizen. In general, people who play sports or live active lifestyles are more prone to strains and sprains.
Participants taking statins for cholesterol were 19% more likely to suffer musculoskeletal problems than non-users and 13% more likely to suffer dislocations, sprains, or strains.
It's unclear why this happens but it appears statins weaken muscles and joints, making them more susceptible to injury. That being said, if you're currently taking a cholesterol drug like Lipitor you should remain on it. The benefits to your heart outweigh the risk of a sprained ankle or strained back.
However, if you don't absolutely need statin drugs to improve your cholesterol or are relatively healthy, it's wise to avoid them. They are relatively new on the scene and the potential side effects are still not fully understood. Taking the drugs without an immediate need might cause unforeseen problems and, as usual, more details will emerge as more research is conducted.
If you're taking one of these drugs, I recommend finding ways to limit injuries. I'd never suggest ceasing all activity, because exercise and movement is good for your muscles, joints, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems, but I would pay careful attention to what you do and how you do it.
Research shows light walking, in excess of 90 minutes per week, can ease joint pain in people with arthritis. Light exercise loosens up the joints and makes them more flexible and less prone to locking up. Try doing some light exercise, like walking, to improve your condition.
---
By the way...

If arthritis is keeping you from doing even these light, low-intensity exercises, then you have to read our latest report 17 Natural Ways to End Your Arthritis Suffering for Good.
It reveals the little-known, but highly effective alternative remedies to end your arthritis pain, including a summer fruit that can banish inflammation. Click here for more information.
---
Before starting your exercise, however, it's important to protect yourself from the risk of strains or sprains. Make sure your walking shoes have thick, even soles. Worn, uneven soles can increase the risk of rolling an ankle or a fall. Make sure your shoes fit well and are not too constricting around the foot or cause your foot to slide around, too. Walking on even ground can also reduce the risk of a fall.
Eating a balanced, healthy diet can also reduce the likelihood of sprains and strains. A proper diet ensures the right nutrition to help the body function optimally and resist injury. Furthermore, be sure to stretch out before exercise so your muscles are limber.
In health,
Helen Martyre

Inflammation Causes these Four Diseases

Please check out the article I read at Newsmaxhealth.com:

Inflammation Causes 4 major diseases.

Inflammation causes these four diseases:  cancer, diabetes heart attacks and impotence among men and women...  This is according to the findings of Drs. Michael Rozhet and Mehmet Oz.

How do you fight inflammation:

l.  Cut down on your smoking

2.  Take a walk daily

3   Tale food rich in Omega 3.  (not from the farm raised fish)

4.  Eat anti inflammatory foods:   oranges (flavinoids, leafy greens, apples, nuts, yoghurt with probiotics because they dampen infammation.

Fwd: Modern man is plagued by prostate disorders...

Here is  a feed from Joe Barton Publishing on various alternative cures especially for prostate disorder.

Eating tomatoes and watermelons can reduce size of the enlarged prostate.

There is also a recommendation for reducing milk intake (also soya) because this prevents Vit D from functioning well.

There are also other articles on belly fat, colon cleansing, and other homeopathic remedies.

Subject: Modern man is plagued by prostate disorders...
To: "Jorge.Saguinsin" <jorge.saguinsin@gmail.com>

Hi Jorge.Saguinsin,

I have been helping doctors, patients, students, and health
professionals find innovative alternative health solutions
for more than 30 years and it seems that modern man is
plagued by prostate disorders.

In fact, prostate health problems are worse than most people
realize . . . More than 50% of men 40 to 59 years old have
enlarged prostates and one out of four 50 year old men have
cancer cells in their prostate.

I know the thought of turning your life over to surgery,
drugs and hospitalization is a scary consideration. The
purpose of this letter is to shine some natural light on a
seemingly hopeless situation.

It's amazing how many people are learning to find health
solutions today via the internet. I feel like a kind of
pioneer because suddenly millions of people are finding
real answers and taking control of their own health . . .
right at the tip of their fingers.

The Harris poll verified more than 110 million adults search
the internet for self-health information, that's an amazing
80% of everyone online!

Another exciting fact is that more and more physicians are
suggesting their patients search online for health
information. From personal experience I can tell you even
good doctors don't have time to keep up.

This Complementary Alternative Health data base is
exponentially growing every day. Simply put, there's no
lack of new natural health breakthroughs, just time to sort
through them . . . and that's my job!

Still the vast majority of physicians are unaware of this
self-health revolution. Truth is half of the patients that
discuss natural alternatives with their doctors have to
initiate the conversation. Most doctors barely have time to
keep up with all the new drugs, let alone understand the
healing arts.

Back to your prostate fears, the first thing is to stop
confusing cause and effects. Bottom line your prostate
problems are more likely triggered by nutrient or mineral
deficiencies than a drug deficiency.

So, let's start there . . . If that doesn't work for you,
you can always try drugs and surgery later, right? If you
are equipped with a better knowledge of the natural healing
processes you stand a much better chance in your fight
against prostate disorders, even if you resort to drugs or
surgery.

However, using prostate-healing nutrients, herbs and
alternative medicine may help you avoid serious drug and
surgical therapies.

The first secret is to address the root cause of the
problem, "inflammation." There are proven affective
exercises and natural remedies that can help inflammation
at the source.

Scientists agree cutting out milk products can help.
Apparently Americans suffer from too much calcium which
inhibits vitamin D to fight prostate cancer.

Increasing anti-oxidant rich foods like tomatoes,
watermelons and other red fruits can help prevention and
even reduce existing tumor size.

Another tip is increasing intake of the trace element boron
found in many foods. Boron is proven in animals to reduce
prostate tumor size by as much as 38% and PSA levels by up
to 88% (Gallardo-Williams et al, "Effects of boron
supplementation on morphology, PSA levels, and
proliferative activity of LNCaP tumors in nude mice,"
Proceedings of the American Cancer Association)

I recommend The Prostate Secrets Report, which provides
scientifically proven, 100% drug-free, natural prostate
treatments that could literally save your life. . .
