There are now two American doctors working with Samaritan Purse in Africa trying to contain the Ebola virus who are now infected with the deadly virus
They are Nancy Writebol who lives in Monrovia with her husband, has two children and hails from Charlotte North Carolina, and Kent Bradley 33.
This is a great risk and sacrifice on the part of this American doctors who are trying their best to contain the disease. There is fear that the disease could spread in Nigeria one of the most populous countries in (20 million) Africa. A Nigerian man arrived at Lagos airport and soon died probably of Ebola He declared that he did not come in contact with anyone sick or who had died of Ebola.
What is frightening l about this is he rode in a plane and those who rode with him must be quarantined. There is risk of more spread of infection
The disease started in Konarky Guinea which has a population of 2 million. The disease is prevalent in West Africa because of its close proximity to jungles
Deadly disease
When untreated, deaths is 90% from Ebola; when given fluids, mortality is reduced to 60%. The disease takes time to germinate, and symptoms do not immediately appear, thus the disease can be spread by people travelling around. days to
The disease cause the body's ability to clot blood and death can occur within 10 days after contracting it. It is a Category disease: deadly with no known cure (vaccine, medicine to combat its deadly attack)
