High blood pressure is a silent killer and millions are suffering from this due to lifestyle (diet, lack of exercise and stress)  High blood pressure can lead to CVA (stroke) or heart attack. It has been found that even the young have high bp.  More than l/3 of people aged 16 to 34 have hypertension.

High bp leads to brain damage and premature aging.

 There are natural ways of reducing high bp fast without resorting to pharma drugs that can be toxic or cause certain disability. The common approach is via the angiotensin/renin route. Anti high bp drugs are angiotensin receptor blockers (which are carcinogenic)   These are:  almonds, coconut water, cayenne peppers, raw cacao, turmeric (yellow ginger) and garlic.   (And also okra)   I have made write ups  on this at this site on chili pepper, turmeric, garlic.  It would help if I post additional information.

1.  Raw almonds  -  they are expensive though and must be  imported from US where they are grown. Almond reduce inflammation in blood vessels which are usual cause of vaso constriction and high bp, lowers weight, and lowers cholesterol level which ultimately leads to low bp. It is a superfood.  It is slow acting though and for long term use (watch out for uric acid though?)

2.  Cayenne pepper - undoubtedly the fastest acting (acts within 30 minutes after taking)  It is a powerful blood thinner and vasodilator.  Mix one to two teaspoon of  cayenne pepper with aloe vera and honey in tea concoction.  There are capsule preparation if you cant stand the spicy taste of pepper.

Coconut water  (buko juice)  is rich in potassium and thus helps reduce high blood presssure.


4. Raw cacao -  the flavinoids of raw cacao are adaptogens which allow body to adopt stresss better (which are often cause of high bp) .  They help regulate stress hormones through out the body.

5.  Turmeric - yellow ginger.  It is a powerful blood thinner.  As part of the diet of Indians, it helps prevent hypertension among them. It also lessens inflammation and helps in dilating blood vessels.

6  Garlic  - from a recent Newsmax health post has been shown to reduce triglyceride level by 17% and blood pressure by as much as 12%A compound in garlic called hydrogen sulfide smoothens and relax blood vessels thus reducing bp.  It also prevents plaque build up.  A study in Tagore Medical School in India showed that those who took garlic oil were 83% less likely to develop blood clots

During times of hot humid climate, everyone is worried about food poisoning. Simple and common-sense preventive measures like hand washing and proper preparation of foods will help prevent food poisoning.
Another common measure to prevent food poisoning is by heating or cooking foods appropriately. However, is this the case every time? It turns out that bacteria can even grow at hazardous levels even after heating foods!
In this article, we'll reveal to you the three most shocking facts of food preparation that is often overlooked and can actually cause food poisoning.
Surprising Facts on Food Poisoning

## 1. You Cannot Determine Contaminated Food Just By Looking and Smelling!
It's impossible to tell if foods are contaminated with bacteria just by smelling or looking at them. They may appear fine but you can still get sick.
This is because most bacteria that cause food poisoning (e.g. salmonella, and E. coli) don't produce smell or any changes in appearance of the food.
Remember, don't be overconfident with your five senses when it comes to your foods. You just can't trust them when you're trying to determine contaminated or spoiled foods.
You can't tell that a food is contaminated just by looking and smelling
One bacterium can multiply to thousands of millions in just a few hours. This means that a small amount of bacteria in a contaminated food will surely spoil it quickly under right conditions so please exercise caution.

## 2. Heating Foods Does Not Guarantee Food Safety
Don't get overconfident when heating foods. Even a properly prepared or cooked food is not a guarantee that it won't spoil quickly. You can still get food poisoning if you let it stand too long under improper storage temperatures!
The most common cause of this type of food poisoning is due to the bacteria "Clostridium perfringens". C. perfringens bacteria form spores that can withstand high cooking temperatures. When foods are kept at improper storage temperatures, the spores present will sprout and begin to grow to dangerous levels.
Will Reheating Cause Food Poisoning?
The dangerous storage temperature zone is between 20 to 55 degrees Celsius (70 to 130A??F). Food poisoning can result in as fast as 8 hours once the food contaminated with large numbers of clostridium perfringens is consumed.
Although Clostridium perfringens does not cause food poisoning when they're in small amounts, it can still induce food poisoning once the contaminated food is reheated. This is because Clostridium perfringens can only grow vigorously in conditions of very little or no oxygen. More heat means less oxygen.
To prevent the growth of Clostridium perfringens, the food must be cooled to below 20 degrees Celsius (70A??F) within 2 hours after cooking. For example, after cooking stew or curry, when storing them, it is recommended that you transfer them to smaller containers then place them in the refrigerator, especially during summer season. Always remember that Clostridium perfringens cannot grow under freezing temperatures or refrigeration.

## 3. Hand Hygiene: A Common Pitfall
One of the basics of food poisoning prevention is "hand washing". It is one of the most important things when it comes to food preparation yet it is also one of the most commonly ignored.
Wash your hands thoroughly to prevent food poisoning
Bacteria can attach to any parts of your hands all the way from the crevices and skin folds up to the tip of your nails. Therefore, bacteria can still spread through every surface of your hands if you don't wash your hands well.
Experts recommend 20 seconds of proper hand washing with soap and water.
Remember to always wash your hands prior to cooking and after going to toilet.

Chili peppers as fibronolytic agent, cholesterol lowering agents? - cheap cures

Because a lot of people around me have high blood pressure, I have been persistent in researching cheap cures for high blood pressure.

One such item I found is in the Food Pharmacy by Jean Carper. It is chili peppers.

Chili pepper has been found to be good:   as fibrinolytic agent (dissolving clots, a blood thinner, as good as aspirin) and cholesterol lowering agent.  The findings were made in Thailand and India (page166 and 167)

Dr. Sukon Visudiphan of Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok Thailand investigated the fibronylitic property of chili peppers.  Thais are known to have spicy food, well containing mostly peppers.  Thai doctors concluded that this must be the reason why thrombo embolism is rare among Thais.  There was a rapid onset of clot dissolving upon eating of the peppers and soon reverted to normal thirty minutes upon eating.

In India, biochemists, in their study of rabbits at Central Food Technological Research in Mysore India, found out that feeding the animals with pure capsaicin and dry red peppers suppressed the production of cholesterol and triglycerides in the even if they were fed with cholesterol rich food.

This is an important findings because the rapid onset of the action of chili peppers means it can be used for high blood pressure emergency

I think this is the second time I reposted this article.  This concerns treatment of children's disorder with narcotic drugs.  It is time we review the psychiatric treatment of children with narcotic drugs especially the long term effects.

This is contained in Gary Nulls documentary  Drugging of our Children  The treatment of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) with narcotic drugs rival that of street drug use.  One such drug is Ritalin.  Sometimes there are misdiagnosis. Use of Ritalin has been linked to incidence of suicide.

But the prescprition of such drug is big money.  We wonder what is the motive for such diagnosis and prescription of such drugs

Processed and junk food may actually be devoid of nutrition  and potentially dangerous.  One such danger is acrylamide, a substance formed in high temperature cooking (beyond 212 F) in carbohydrate foods. Acrylamide is formed when sugar reacts with amino acid (asparagine) whether by frying, baking, roasting, grilling, toasting.  It is visible when there is a brown coating in the food and thus found in such food:

l.  Roasted coffee;

2.  Potatoes:  chips, french fries


3.  Grains - bread,  crust, toast, roasted breakfast cereal.

Grilled/roasted meat contain heterocyclic amines which is also linked to cancer.


Such toxic substances was the result of year long EU study known as HEATOX  (Heat Generated Food Toxicants) where 800 compounds were found as result of high temperature cooking;  52 of which are potential carcinogens


Thus it is best to eat normally cooked food, or even raw food to avoid exposure to these carcinogenic substances

Millions of bees and beehive colonies are rapidly dying for "unknown reasons?"  But the cause has been traced to use of neonicotinoid pesticide.  And farmers are suing EPA for allowing Sulfoxaflor, a fourth generation neonicotinoid.

One such death of bumblebees occurred in Oregon where ODA (Oregon Dept of Agriculture) approved the use of Safari, whose active ingredient is dinotefuran, a neonicotinoid.

Bees are important, cheap means of pollinating fruit trees;  and without them, without pollination, fruits will not develop thus yields for farmers will dwindle and even vanish.

An active effort must be made to prevent further deaths of bees; lest tree and fruit farming also vanish

Yes what is more addictive than cocaine.

It is refined sugar.

Using magnetic imaging of the brain, researchers confirmed highly processed carbs stimulate brain center involved in reward and craving, resulting in excess hunger.

The study which was published in  American Journal of Nutrition subjected men between ages of 18 to 35 to functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging.  And the subjects were fed high and low GI food.  The high GI diet initially resulted spiked the blood sugar level and then crashed which stimulated the brain center called nucleus accumbens the brain center for addictive behavior.

Thus if you consume an amount of sugar,your reach a level of tolerance, in which you are not pleased anymore, thus you have to consume more to reach the same level of taste.  This is according to Dr. Robert Lustig.  It is interesting to note that sugar is top ingredient in many processed food products in US like Prego, as spaghetti sauce.

Thus, this consuming passion to eat causes obesity.  Obesity is now a disease in USA.

Food manufacturers have mastered the art of adding the right amount of sugar to reach the point of bliss.  And they have mastered other taste as saltiness, sweetness -  the science of addictive eating.

Dr. Mercola recommends avoiding plenty or processed food and sugary items.  Instead he recommends exercise and drinking black coffee.  The latter can reduce addiction to this cause of obesity

Okra is good for high blood presssure and diabetes

If you want to avoid statins and commercial antidiabetes drug, you can take this common vegetable - called lady finger.  or gumbo,   bhindi,  or bhindai  in other places.  It is also an aphrodisiac.

(Scientific name:   Abelmoschus escalantus)

It is rich in calcium which contributes to the lowering of high BP.  My neighbor is taking okra, is diabetic and boasts she no longer takes metformin.  Her blood sugar is normal.  Her relatives in US swear by okra in normalizing their bp.

It is rich in anti oxidants and rich in fibers and thus helps in weight loss.  It normalizes the rate of absorption of sugar from the intestinal tract. It is rich in potassium, magnesium and calcium.  Calcium and potassium helps reduce high bp.

Summer in USA means tick and mosquito bite.  In the PHL, is is mosquito season all year round.

For reducing itchiness and swelling from  insect bites, you can use the following:

Despite repeated advertising claims, diet soda (I used to drink plenty of Zero and Mega drinks) with aspartame actually cause cravings, weight gain, obesity and even diabetes.

Researchers from Manchester and  CSIR - Indian Institute of Chemical Biology in Kolkata has linked the high arsenic in rice and chromosomal  damage. Thus people who plenty of rice are at risk.  There are naturally occurring arsenic and those coming from insecticides and fertilizer and this is the cause for concern.

This findings will help regulators control the arsenic in rice especially in regions of the world where rice is staple food, ie,about 50% of their diet consist of rice.

WORSE than fast food (and you're eating it every day)

If you're a health conscious individual, you likely cringe at even the mention of fast food.
McDonald's. Burger King. Wendy's.

AHHHH!

We all know that fast food for the most part is REALLY bad news, so if you're going to go "out to eat", whatever you do, don't eat fast food. Instead, try a nice sit-down restaurant in which an independent study recently determined that when compared to the golden arches and king of burgers, those who choose sit-down restaurants wind up eating TWICE as many calories than those that choose fast food.

What?

Eye-opener: What appears to be healthy at a restaurant, very likely aint healthy.

The reality is that sit down restaurant meals, due to their exceptionally large portions and often irresponsible preparation methods (with respect to calorie content) give very little regard to health and weight management. Restaurants want you to LOVE the food, be satisfied, and come back. For the most part, with few exceptions, that's their number one goal...and it comes at the expense of your health and that oh so lovely figure you're trying to obtain and maintain.

Does that mean you should never eat out? No, we eat out all the time. But you have to be aware of what goes down, and YOU have to be the one in control of the meal. Here are some tips:

1. When you order, ask the server to have half of your entree bagged up to go and half brought out to you. Instant 50% reduction in calories!

Chances are, you'll be just as satisfied with 1/2 the normal portion, but when the whole thing is on your plate in front of you, you'll always eat more just because it's there.

2. Give VERY specific instructions on how you want your food prepared. For example, order your meat grilled with absolutely no sauces, butter, etc. Skip the "pre-made" salad dressings and request olive oil and vinegar instead. Ask how things are prepared -- it's your server's job to answer your questions and you're paying them to be an expert and deliver to you exactly what you want. If you don't want a boatload of hidden calories, make sure you don't get them by speaking up and clarifying what you want.

Implement those 2 tips and you'll avoid 75% of the calories in a typical restaurant entree.
