Side Effects from Wikipedia
I watched the movie Side Effects at Star Movies and there were things that we may learn:
1. As discussed by Dr. Mercola, some anti depressant drugs may have severe side effect. An anti depressant drug being used by psychiatrist, make people do things they do not know or remember. As was featured. it was made to appear that Emily murdered her husband Martin while on a medication and does not seem to remember this. Dr. Banks who had Emily under her care was put on the spot and his career as psychiatrist ended. His partners threw him out, no more patients consulted him, his clinical trial of another psychotropic drugs ended. The practice of clinical trial of psychotropic drugs by psychiatrist (in exhange of free dosage may be put under scrutiny.
2. Patients can lie as in the case of Emily. She was in conspiracy with Dr. Siebert, a lady psychiatrist who became her lover to put Dr. Banks on the spot. This was eventually discovered and Dr. Siebert was found out by police who had Emily wired. She and Dr. Siebert faked drugs side effects and in the process manipulated drug stock prices and amassed money in in the process.
By and large the the movie discusses the negative side of mass advertising of anti depressant drugs on how they are supposed to improve ones lifes quality. What many do not see are the side effects, including suicidal tendency. And I hope it is not exage, sleepwalking where the patients do not know what, or motive for what they do.
