Tips for natural cures of acid reflux (GERD)
Rizal Philippines | April 29, 2014
Dear Reader:
I did not realize that having upset stomach or having acid reflux or GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) is very prevalent. I know of many acquaintances and even my daughter who are suffering and are taking a lot of antacids, PPI and still are in pain to no avail. They are often admitted to the hospital with only temporary relief.
I came across this Dr. Mercola for the nth time. I think I should give this some emphasis. His article lists down common and natural cures for GERD. Some of them are:
1. Some prescription and over the counter drugs can cause heartburn
2. Do not depend so much on Protein Pump Inhibitor drugs like Nexium and Prevacid. because they can cause overdependence . They can cause too little production of acid and sometimes, the stomach condition arise because the stomach can not digest food, as complex carbohydrates.
3. Try probiotics
4. Take more of unprocessed food
5. Baking soda to neutralize the stomach acid
6. Aloe vera juice
7. Glutamine vs H. pylori
8. Ginger root

Ever wondered how come some people do not eat food that are high in purines like meat, poultry, fish, beans, and yet have elevated uric acid level. I was at a loss when I was asked by neighbors about this.
This post is a Eureka. High consumption of softdrinks can cause elevated uric acid level; " It may be a factor responsible for the elevated levels of uric acid in the blood stream. Elevated levels may also lead to deposition of uric acid crystals in joints, tendons and surrounding tissues"
So guys slow down on your cola drink consumption. When you have high uric acid level or goes up, you know the answer.
It can be caused also by high level of alcohol or beer intake
The following are cumulative risk factors for gout:
Certain uric acid lowering medications can also cause gout to flare initially. It is important to ask your doctor about this side effect, and to continue taking the medication as directed through the flare.

Gout Triggers, Risk Factors and Effects of Beer and Other Alcohol
Gout Risk Factors
Gout is associated with several other disorders, including high blood pressure and heart disease. It is important to receive prompt diagnosis, and to manage these conditions. Adopting lifestyle and diet changes, as well as revisiting any medications you are taking for other disorders, can make a significant difference in patients with milder cases of gout. The following are cumulative risk factors for gout:
- Obesity – defined as a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher. Click here to calculate your BMI.
- Untreated high blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol
- High levels of serum triglycerides in the blood, which are associated with an increased risk of heart disease
- Joint injury – urate crystals are more likely to form in a joint that was previously damaged and/or a recent injury can bring on a gout attack
- Diuretics – when taken by people with high blood pressure, leg swelling or heart failure, diuretics can decrease the kidney’s ability to remove uric acid and result in hyperuricemia
- Chemotherapy – the breakdown and turnover of cells leads to an increase in uric acid
- Kidney disease – when the kidneys are not working as a filter at 100 percent capacity, they cannot remove enough excess uric acid, leading to hyperuricemia
- Genetics – fact: one out of four people with gout have a family history of the condition
- Hyperuricemia – elevated uric acid levels can cause gout to flare up
- Cyclosporine – Taking this anti-rejection transplant medication
- High fructose intake
Gout Triggers
Gout triggers are usually different from one person to another. Many patients find their gout easier to manage once they determine their specific triggers. Keeping a lifestyle diary may help you determine what foods, beverages or activities can cause your gout to flare.Certain uric acid lowering medications can also cause gout to flare initially. It is important to ask your doctor about this side effect, and to continue taking the medication as directed through the flare.
- Regular, excessive alcohol intake, especially beer or binge drinking
- Surgery or a sudden, severe illness for which you are bedridden
- Consuming large quantities of purine-rich foods, especially red meat, organ meat and shellfish
- Radiation therapy
- Crash diets, especially high-protein fad diets
- A diet high in fructose, including soft drinks and fruit juices
- Starting a uric acid-lowering treatment medicine (even though it may be the correct long-term therapy)

Doctor finds 'battery acid' in common drinks? From Barton Publsihing Home Cures Daily
bATTERY WATER IN COmmon drinks? O my gosh
According to Dr Mark Wiley, when you drink your favorite drink, you gulp with it substance that is very much like battery water. It corrodes your teeth, cause arthritis being vee ury acidic, and also builds up crystals (uric acid crystals) whic can cause pain (as in gouty arthritis) Some posts even mentions that drink can be used as a household cleaner because of the acid content (phosphoric acid)
The softdrink guys may hate this post, but many who dislike being sick from taking in toxic and unhealthy food will appreciate this post

Commentary on a forwarded post:
The discovery health report tells us that drinking fruit juice is worse than drinking a cola drink. Why because it is loaded with HFCS, an artificial fructose (they use it because it is cheaper than natural sugar and actually contains more sugar than cola drink. What does this mean? You are more prone to ill effects attributed to sugar. So beware.

Hi Jorge,
Very rarely do I fully endorse a health book...
But today, I'm going to make an exception.
That's because I've never come across
a health book as monumental in it's
significance - and as timely - as the one
I'm about to introduce to you.
It's a book that contains a compilation of
never-before-published alternative
medicine discoveries.
At first, I didn't believe the book would
really give me information that I hadn't
already encountered. Over the years, I've
amassed quite a library of health books
myself - including encyclopedias of
so-called "health breakthroughs" and
"miracle cures"...
So I thought this book was just another
run-of-the-mill assortment of health
remedies and alternative treatment
options...
Boy was I wrong!
With every ailment or disease I looked up,
I found an astounding amount of in-depth,
eye-opening information. Usually the book
features not just one, but many scientifically
proven treatment options that are unknown
to or ignored by mainstream medicine.
For example: Did you know about...
==> How a Seven-Time Nobel Prize
Nominee Effectively Fights Cancer with
common household items?
==> An infra-red helmet that has a 90%
success rate in halting the progression of
Alzheimer's Disease?
==> An extremely potent anti-inflammatory
breakthrough from mollusks that reduces
swollen arthritic joints by 79%?
==> An herb used for a 20 year period to
treat over 15,000 cardiac patients overseas
and there has been no recurrence of their
disease.
And that's just a few of the virtually unheard
of breakthroughs this book contains within
its pages.
In fact, there are over 200 little-known
breakthroughs for treating more than 65
different medical conditions, ailments
and diseases.
Go here to see a bigger list of the
breakthroughs ... just scroll down the
page to the preview
And everything is spelled out in easy-to-
understand, layman's terms - not in technical
terminology that one would need a medical
degree to decipher.
The book even gives detailed information on:
-How to find health practitioners that are
experienced in administering these
breakthrough treatments.
-Where to find therapeutic substances to
cure various ailments.
-What dosages are required in order to
achieve the curative results that are
presented.
And over 1,300 footnotes reference
peer-reviewed, published medical researc
and scientific studies that assure the
accuracy of the treatments, procedures,
modalities and supplements that are
featured in the book.
So what's the title of this book?
Go here to find out and discover the
life-saving information for yourself, your
family and your loved ones:

Carolyn
P.S. While I'm in no way recommending
this book replace a one-on-one relationship
with your health practitioner, there's no
denying this book is a must-have resource
for familiarizing yourself with all the effective
treatment options that even your doctor has
probably never heard of.

Sugar and sweetener fact, alternative non refined sweeteners.

A lot has been written that are anti refined sugar. But there is a dearth of alternative substitutes for refined sugar. This post from Wonder How to give such alternatives.
The article discusses refined sugar, brown sugar, (which is essentially refined sugar with molasses added back, so there is very little difference with refined sugar) artificial sweeteners (aspartame sucralose) and unrefined sweeteners like fruits, agave, and honey
From food hacks - why less refined sweeteners are great

Repost from SugarShock blog
I year ago I bought a book by Dr. Christine Gonzales on how to cure/treat cancer. The cure involves prevention and non traditional cures: and involves spiritual and emotional healing as well. There is one chapter there about sugar and ill effects and there are more than a 100 of them: ill effects of sugar on health and the body.
The list must have come from the book of Dr. Nancy Appleton which considers sugar as a great addiction just like shabu or cocaine probably. They are both addictive and bdad for the health
I came across a chief executive officer of a sugar milling company and I told him that negative feedback on sugar from health advocates is a strategic issue and may be causing decline in sales. He is doing a repackaging but I think it will not do much to increase sugar sale. Consider this negative publicity/perception and emergence of more natural sweeteners like coco sugar and stevia.
