Fwd: This "Dangerous Toxin" Boosts Your Brain Health

Cholesterol is not entirely bad;  maybe the scientists made a mistake. Losing the cholesterol zaps memory.  And statin is the culprit.

Conventional thinking which made us believe that high cholesterol causes heart disease is not very conclusive.

There are 2 types of cholesterol:  LDL -  the villain, and HDL - the good cholesterol. the cleaners..  HDL level can be increased by:

l.  Eating red meat (it contains COQ10)
2. Drink cocoa
3.  Eat more eggs
4.  Avoid smoking
5.  Exercise
6.  Get omega 3 esp found in fisth
7.  0 alcohol.
8.  Red yeast rice.

Subject: This "Dangerous Toxin" Boosts Your Brain Health

Discovery Health Publishing
Dear Jorge Saguinsin,
"Lower your cholesterol" has been the #1 health advice for 20 years or more. The battle against cholesterol has been so aggressive, by 2010, 32 million Americans were taking statins, the drugs designed to lower cholesterol.

That's one out of every four Americans over the age of 44.

According to the latest numbers, we may be winning the battle. But we're losing the war. Because the battle against cholesterol may be doing you more harm than good.

Today, I'll show you why you need cholesterol, especially in your brain, and how to sidestep the devastating effects of modern medicine's favorite heart drug.

I'll also show you how to easily balance your cholesterol without drugs or other "solutions" that may make your heart even weaker.

Your Brain NEEDS Cholesterol

With all the anti-cholesterol hysteria, you'd think it was a dangerous toxin. But, in fact, it's an essential building block within your body.

Cholesterol is an essential element of every cell membrane in your body. You need it to form hormones such as testosterone. And it's an important element of the myelin sheath - the protective fatty coating on nerve cells.

Myelin insulates nerve cells - including your brain and spinal cord - from other tissues.

So cholesterol is critical for nerve system health. And a new study shows just how important it may be.

Researchers looked at mice with a rare and fatal disorder called Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease (PMD). PMD causes over-production of a protein that binds cholesterol.

The disease prevents normal growth of the myelin sheath. Sufferers lose coordination, motor control and intellectual functions.

The researchers fed diseased mice a cholesterol-enriched diet. The extra cholesterol stopped the disease's progression. The extra cholesterol helped the mice make up for what was missing because of the PMD.1

The study offers new hope to people with a devastating illness. But it also highlights how important cholesterol is to your brain health.

But the over-prescription of statin drugs may be putting that health at risk.

The Big Statin Con Job

According to experts at Oxford University, only about 1 in 400 people has a hereditary condition that causes high cholesterol. Virtually everyone else should be able to control their cholesterol without drugs.

You see, your body needs bile acid to digest fat. The more fats and oils in your diet, the more bile acid your body produces. And guess what your body needs to make bile acid?

Right... cholesterol. So eating a lot of fat and oil in your diet triggers cholesterol production. Cut out the fat and oils, and your need for cholesterol goes down.

According to the Oxford scientists, that may be all that's needed for most people to lower their cholesterol to acceptable levels.2

So why are 32 million Americans taking statin drugs?

In a word: money. In 2010, two of the ten top-selling drugs in the U.S. - including #1 - were stating drugs. These two statins alone accounted for $11 billion in sales.

No wonder the drug companies want everyone to take statins! Whether they need them or not.

And whether it's healthy or not. Because statins may pose some serious health risks.

When the Cure is Worse than the Disease

Statins block production of cholesterol. And we've already seen that cholesterol is critical to your health. If that were the only problem with statins, it would be bad enough. But it gets worse.

Statin drugs also lower your levels of CoQ10.

Your body uses CoQ10 to produce energy at the cellular level. It's especially important for muscle health. Including the health of your heart.

In a major study, researchers expected to see statins improve the condition of patients with chronic heart failure. But they didn't.

A later analysis revealed the likely problem. The stain drugs had lowered the patients' CoQ10 levels by an average of 20%.3 In essence, the statins left the patients' hearts starving for an essential nutrient.

If you take statins, you probably won't feel the drop in your CoQ10 levels. But you very well may feel muscle pain and weakness. Studies have shown that up to 98% of statin takers experience muscle problems, depending on dose.4

Sometimes, this muscle weakness and pain develops into full-blown rhabdomyolysis - a severe breakdown of muscle tissue that can lead to kidney damage. When this happens, your muscle cells burst open and release their contents into your blood stream, which clogs your kidneys and can actually kill you.

But that's not all. Research also suggests statin use may also lead to...
  • Dizziness, due to a drop in blood pressure
  • Memory problems and mental confusion
  • Neuropathy - Weakness, pain or tingling in the hands and feet
  • Congestive heart failure (CHF)

That's right. An analysis of studies reveals statin drugs may be involved in the rising number of cases of CHF. The reason? The first side effect I mentioned: statins lower CoQ10.5

And finally, going back to memory problems... an MIT researcher has linked statin use to Alzheimer's disease!

According to the researcher, the evidence shows a low fat diet and statin use combine to significantly raise your risk of Alzheimer's.6

But you don't have to accept this bad news for your brain. Because there is an answer. And it's a lot safer than drugs.

Fight Fire with Fire:
Boosting the "Good" Cholesterol to Fight the "Bad"

The answer to cholesterol is more cholesterol.

As you may know, your body makes several types of cholesterol. But it makes mostly two types: LDL and HDL.

LDL is the building block. It's built into cell membranes and nerves. If you don't have enough, your body can't function. But excess LDL can oxidize - and this is what can clog your arteries.

That's why you have HDL cholesterol. If LDL is the building block, HDL is the cleanup crew. HDL cholesterol removes excess LDL from your bloodstream. It's a natural balance. And it's the secret to keep your high cholesterol under control.

High LDL cholesterol is less of a health issue than low HDL. Because when your HDL levels are high enough, LDL poses little problem.

And it's easy to raise your HDL levels...
  • Eat red meat. Eating lean red meat regularly raises HDL cholesterol while lowering LDL. Organic, grass-fed beef and lamb are best.
  • Boost your CoQ10. Taking CoQ10 supplements will raise HDL. For the biggest effect, take the ubiquinol form, which is more bioavailable.
  • Drink cocoa. Organic, unsweetened cocoa is actually healthy. One of it's effects is boosting HDL cholesterol.
  • Eat more eggs. You've probably heard that eggs raise cholesterol. And they do. But research shows they have a minimal effect on LDL cholesterol. What eggs boost are levels of healthy HDL cholesterol.
Finally, here are a few other ways to boost your levels of HDL cholesterol:
  • Get more Omega-3 fats - especially those found in fish
  • Eat nuts that contain healthy fats - such as almonds and walnuts
  • Be more active and lose excess weight
  • Don't smoke and drink alcohol only in moderation
Following these simple guidelines should be more than enough for most people to control their cholesterol. And avoid the dangers of the drugs that could wreck your health, your heart and your brain.
Wishing you strength and vitality,
Jason Kennedy

Fwd: Lies, Damn Lies and Cholesterol

                                http://www.cholesterol-is.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Hdl-Ldl.jpg

The current knowledge is that LDL or high levels of this is known to cause heart disease.

There are those who had heart attack who had healthy LDL level.  Thus the LDL HDL theory of heart disease is debunked.

But you need LDL to build muscles or in the formation of sex hormones:  estrogen and testosterone.  But isnt it that high LDL level is bad for your heart.  No need to worry because if you keep HDL high enough, you can lower the LDL level.

But you do not need prescription drugs to increase HDL;  it can be increased naturally cheaply. So why bother increasing HDL?

What are the way HDL can be increased:

l.  Onions

2. CO Q10 from chicken and beef

3.  Red Meat

4.  Cocoa (it is very good in increasing HDL levels)  Aztecs drank them with peppers.

5. Vit E - the ones that are good in increasing HDL are tocotrienols found in palm oil, rice bran and oats

Subject: Lies, Damn Lies and Cholesterol

Discovery Health Publishing

Dear Reader:
Remember the famous quote from Mark Twain?
"There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."
When he penned those words, Twain easily could have been writing about cholesterol. Because the drug industry has massaged, bent and twisted cholesterol numbers beyond all recognition.
But there's one number Twain would have had no trouble understanding. $35 billion. That's how much drug companies made from cholesterol-lowering drugs in 2010.
Twain would have understood another thing, too. When you have a $35 billion cash cow, you do whatever it takes to protect it.
So if a large study linked a high risk of cancer to low levels of LDL cholesterol - the so-called "bad cholesterol" - you'd start dancing around the numbers big time.
And that's exactly what's happening. Because that's what a study just presented to the American College of Cardiology discovered.
New Study: Low LDL Raises Your Risk of Cancer
Led by a Tufts University researcher, these scientists compared people in the long-running Framingham Heart Study. Over a period of nearly 20 years, low LDL cholesterol was linked to a higher risk of cancer.1
Other studies have shown that taking cholesterol-lowering drugs ALSO raises your risk of cancer.
So the Tufts University study used only people who had never taken these drugs. So it was clear that it isn't the drugs boosting your risk... it's lowering your LDL cholesterol levels.
The dancing began immediately.
In spite of their findings, the study's authors defended using drugs to lower cholesterol. Because the study shows, they say, that it's not the drugs themselves that cause cancer.
That's sort of like saying it's okay to stick your hand on a hot frying pan, because the frying pan itself doesn't cause the burns.
Of course, it's not just this study the drug companies don't want you to hear about. They've been dancing around a huge body of evidence for years. And the lies start with cholesterol itself.
You see, "bad" cholesterol isn't bad at all. In fact, you'd die without it.
Your body can't make testosterone or estrogen - two key sex hormones - without cholesterol. And if you didn't have LDL cholesterol, your cell walls wouldn't function.
Your body also uses LDL cholesterol to make necessary repairs. LDL cholesterol delivers cholesterol to the cells that need it. HDL - or "good" cholesterol - cleans up after the repairs are done.

An Urgent Message from David Blyweiss, M.D.
THE WEIGHT LOSS MISTAKE
Diet "Experts" Make Every Day
It's their mistake...but it's your growing waistline!
These 3 SECRET INGREDIENTS may be the biggest weight loss breakthrough of our time!
Mounting scientific evidence shows that once you pack on the notorious "40s flab," all the dieting and exercise in the world CAN'T, WON'T and WILL NEVER get rid of stubborn fat!
If diet and exercise really worked, why do 95% of us gain all our weight back? And why are a shocking two-thirds of us overweight, and getting heavier and sicker by the minute?
Now an astounding new discovery shatters the rules of weight loss! No dieting torture...no frenzied exercise!
Thanks to stunning new insight on the real cause of weight gain, there's an amazingly easy way to lose pounds of fat and shed inches of flab for good!

But if you take the LDL away, the repairs don't get made.
Doctors say maintaining lean muscle is key as you get older. Guess what a team at Texas A&M University discovered? LDL cholesterol helps you build lean muscle faster. In fact, in their study, the people with the highest LDL cholesterol levels built the most muscle.2
By now, you're probably wondering, "But what about my heart? Isn't LDL cholesterol bad for my heart?"
High LDL cholesterol can - and does - contribute to clogged arteries. But your body has a natural mechanism for removing excess LDL cholesterol. It's called HDL cholesterol. And part of its job is to keep its LDL cousin at healthy levels.
But why let Nature work when you can sell $35 billion worth of drugs?
You see, there's NO REAL PROOF that LDL cholesterol contributes to heart attacks.
Here's a disturbing FACT: Almost half of all people who have heart attacks have "normal" cholesterol... and over 70% of heart attacks and heart disease are NOT prevented by cholesterol lowering medications.3
Here's another example: In a 2009 study of 136,905 people hospitalized for heart attack, almost half of the patients had healthy LDL levels. And nearly 1 in 5 had levels considered "ideal."4
So LDL cholesterol obviously wasn't much of a predictor of heart trouble.
But another number was. In this same study, less than 10% of these heart attack victims had healthy HDL cholesterol levels.
So it's obvious what the researchers' first conclusion was. That's right... You guessed it. We need to lower LDL cholesterol levels even more. In spite of the fact that every time we lower the LDL guidelines, heart attacks keep on happening.
And here's a shocker. In 1981, a total cholesterol reading of 310 mg/dl was considered "normal." Today, the upper limit is 200 mg/dl.
Can you imagine a doctor today telling you that cholesterol above 300 is healthy? That was a medical standard 30 years ago.
But of course, every time the limit goes down, drug companies sell more and more of their products. It's gotten so bad, they've convinced some medical groups that even healthy people should be taking cholesterol drugs - just in case!
Too bad. Because lowering your LDL too far also increases your risk of cancer.
Get Your HDL High Enough and You'll NEVER
Have to Worry About Heart Disease Again
Meanwhile, almost everyone ignores the obvious solution. If more than 90% of the people experiencing heart attacks have low HDL cholesterol, let's help them get that number up.
But there's a lot less money to be made with that plan... because there are so many ways you can do it naturally. You probably won't ever need a drug to boost your HDL.
Here are a few easy ways to do it:
  • Vitamin E. But not just any vitamin E. There are eight forms of this vitamin. Most supplements only contain Alpha-tocopherol. But the forms most effective in boosting HDL are called tocotrienols. Palm oil is the best source, but you'll find plenty in rice bran and oats, too.
  • CoQ10. Another good way to boost HDL is with CoQ10 supplements. Be sure to look for the form called ubiquinol, which your body absorbs better.
  • Cocoa. The Aztecs were right: cocoa is health food. One of its benefits is boosting HDL levels. Look for organic cocoa - without added sugar. (The Aztecs drank it with hot peppers.)
  • Red Meat. Conventional wisdom says to avoid meat, because it raises cholesterol levels. But studies say otherwise. Researchers at the University of Minnesota gave 6 ounces of lean red meat a day to volunteers with high cholesterol. After 36 weeks, their LDL was down and their HDL was up.5
Wishing you strength and vitality,

Dr. Abramson of Harvard Medical School Says Statin is Ineffective

Statins cause of dementia and other medical problems?

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Joe Barton <support@bartonpublishing.com>
Date: Wed, May 9, 2012 at 8:34 PM
Subject: Medical Alert: Your Cholesterol Is ONLY Here To Help!

Leading doctors are questioning Western medicine's
acceptance of the whole cholesterol theory all together.
The new consensus is that Americans need to shift away from
cholesterol-controlling medications

Dr. John Abramson, of Harvard Medical School published a
report in the British journal Lancet stating statin drugs
for lowering cholesterol are ineffective. Further, Dr.
Abramson questions if any of the cholesterol guidelines are
even based on evidence-based studies. [Lancet 2007;
369:168-169]

People are being misinformed about cholesterol and its
connection with heart disease. According to emerging
medical evidence there is absolutely no benefit for healthy
people taking these dangerous statin drugs.

The whole idea of cholesterol being the causal factor of
heart disease is misleading, to say the least.

Each year more than 500,000 Americans die from a sudden-death
heart event and have low-to-normal cholesterol.

In fact blocking the natural production of cholesterol may
actually increase your risk of developing cancers of the
digestive organs and peritoneum, genital and urinary
organs, and lymphatic and blood tissues. [Science Daily
August 25, 2008]

Dr. Harumi Okuyama believes higher cholesterol levels are
associated with lower cancer and all-cause mortality rates
in the vast majority of people. [World Review of Nutrition
and Dietetics Basel, Karger, 96: 1–17, 2007]

Cholesterol is not a validated indicator about your future
health. The truth is cholesterol is an alcohol molecule
that cells use to keep their cell walls water proof.
Without this unique nutrient cells cannot regulate their
internal environments.

Your brain depends on concentrated levels of cholesterol to
protect normal nerve and cell functioning.

Insoluble cholesterol molecules are transported within tiny
particles made of fats and proteins called lipoproteins.
When necessary the lipoproteins easily dissolve after
transporting the water proof cholesterol held inside them.

There are two primary kinds of lipoproteins that transport
the cholesterol nutrients throughout your body.

So-called good cholesterol, High-Density-Lipoprotein (HDL)
transports cholesterol from peripheral tissues, like your
arterial walls, to the liver. From your liver cholesterol is
excreted with bile or used to make important hormones.

So-called bad cholesterol, Low-Density-Lipoprotein (LDL)
transports cholesterol in the opposite direction. You see
your liver actually makes about 2 grams of cholesterol each
day, unless you eat enough of it, then it would make less.

So LDL travels from your liver to your peripheral tissues
and the walls of your veins and arteries. Whenever these
cells need cholesterol they send for LDL for nourishment.

Western medicine believes that if HDL is low and LDL is
high, your risk for heart disease increases. Yet here is a
classic example of confusing cause and effect again. A risk
factor is NOT the same as a cause of disease. There are many
things that influence the HDL/LDL ratio.

FACT: Reduce your weight and you'll also reduce your LDL
and slightly increase your HDL. The question is whether the
reduced Body Mass Index (BMI) is favorable to the HDL/LDL
ratio?

Truth is a low BMI means you are likely to be over weight
or have a high fat versus muscle ratio. Excess fat in the
body is a sign a person may be insulin resistant and on the
path to developing diabetic symptoms. It is well known that
high blood sugar and high insulin levels are damaging to
the entire cardio vascular system.

Damage to arteries (arthrosclerosis) happens years before a
person becomes diabetic, even with NORMAL cholesterol ratios.

So there are other health factors more important than
cholesterol, such as blood sugar, metabolic hormones and
triglycerides. The list goes on.

For example a lack of exercise is known to create an
"unfavorable HDL/LDL ratio, but so does smoking, abnormal
blood sugar and blood pressure levels.

Bottom line while millions of people are being mislead into
treating their cholesterol levels other vital risk factors
are being over looked.

If you do not have heart disease why would you take any
drug to prevent it? I know there are always medical
exceptions, but chances are pretty good your not one of
them.

Health and wellness is more than lack of symptoms, it is a
lifestyle choice that you have complete control over. You
have control over whether you make the choice for health or
choose to do what drug companies want you to do.

Let's be realistic here now, all you need to do is
discover how to take control of your health again and keep
it. Why over-ride your body's inner intelligence? Rather,
learn to work with your body naturally, by learning proven
health secrets and then putting them to practice.

You have more going for you than you might have first thought.

Return to the natural path intended for you and reclaim the
lifestyle you once enjoyed.

Onions - Multi Purpose( Heart) Medicine

Effective Cures Are Cheap

I was recently shown a book by my eldest daughter who is into on line business, entitled "the food pharmacy": by Jean Carper.  It was copyrighted in 1988.  It a pretty old back but many of the findings now are based on this book.

I like her book because her statements are all backed up by medical journals and researches. (Onions pp 30-34, 246 -250)  Onions have been cultivated for the last 6,000 years and has the following therapeutic uses:  It is known as a multipurpose heart medicine. (Dr. Gurenwhich)

l.  blood thinning;
2.  anti biotic,
3.  anti diabetic
4.  expectorant;
5.  for the heart:   lowers cholesterol, thins blood raises HDL

Blood thinning -  this is important for stroke prone individuals.  Clots, thrombus formation cause strokes and heart attacks.  In France, they feed horses onions to remove blood clots. Onion have great fibrinolytic activity (preventing formation of fibrin, the blood clotting agent, same as heparin given to the stroke or heart attack patients) Doctors at the University of New Castle have been able to identify such blood thinning agent, the odorless cycloalliin (cousin of the thinning compound in garlic)  This reminds us of the blood thinning properties of  Dr. Hammerschimndt black fungus tree ears.  The chemical is adenosine

Raises HDL levels.  Onions as found out in experiments of  Dr. Gurenwhich in 3 out of 4 patients by as much as 30%.  The good cholesterol, HDL essential for good health.  By raising the ratio between good and bad cholesterol, the cardiovascular health of patient is improved.  By contrast, the pharma Gemfibrozil could not come close;  it raised HDL by mere 10%!

Anti biotic -It is a natural anti-biotic.  Louis Pasteur, the guy made famous by the process pasteurization, in mid 1800s called  onion as antibiotic.  It is effective vs long list of bacterias that include E Coli  and Salmonella. It is effective vs. PTB.  Chewing onion for several minutes made the mouth lining sterile. Russian investigators researched l50 plants for antisepsis and found onion to be most potent.  Thus in WW2, they used onions as antiseptic;    the pungent vapors of onions were used by Russian soldiers in WWII to disinfect their wounds and remove pain.

Anti diabetic-  I did not know that onion could be that versatile.  Onions since ancient time were used to treat diabetes.  In l923, they were able to isolate hypoglycemic agents in  onion.  In l960, scientists were able to isolate compounds similar to tolbutamide (Orinase) which stimulates manufacture and release of  insulin. Just recently, Egyptian pharmacists were able to isolate diphenalymine, which is more potent than tolbutamide.

Expectorant - Dr. Irwin Zument dubs onions as good cold remedy.  It creates a flood of tears for mucus also in the lungs and respiratory tract hastening the expectoration.  Thus it is the onions in the chicken soup that cures the cold.

Anti cancer agent. - Onions are being investigated for containing polysulfides (sulfur compounds ) that blocked the formation of enzymes leading to cancer cells. This was at MD Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute. At the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, onions inhibited growth of cancer oral cells and destroyed some.

Do not worry about your breath.  Worry about your health.
