There are two very bad processed food: High Fructose Corn Syrup (which is linked to diabetes and obesity) and partially hydrogenated soy bean oil. Even partially hydrogenated oil is bad for the health
Soybean, in itself is harmful because it contains molecules that are bad for the thyroid. It also contains phytoestrogens that alters hormone level in the body (found to lower libido in men?)
What is is worse is that 90% of soya grown in US is GE and may contain glyphosate. (a herbicide) Round Up. GE soya is engineered to resist glyphosate which destroys all weeds in the soya farm

Genetically engineered plants and animals are supposed to enhance human survival and longevity. However, observes Dr Mercola, corporate greed, desire for excessive profits, marketing competition has forced many companies, which includes pesticide and seed company to engage in unethical activities. The giant company being referred to here frequently is Monsanto and their round up seeds and herbicides.
This is mostly observed in GM corn and soya where round up insectides are being used routinely. The resistance of the crops to insectides and the genetic composition of the plants alters: soil fertility, the gut flora of the fowls, cause horizontal transfer of DNA to other organisms in the soil
However the sweeping generalizations on GMO is unfair since some genetically modified organisms are good, yield good harvest, are packed with more minerals and vitamins (why the Proposition 37 lost?)

Glyphosate, active ingredient of Monsanto Round up, now found in urine of city dwellers

The active ingredient of Round up, a potent herbicide used by Monsanto in connection with its GMO seeds, is now found in city dweller's urine. Round up can kill weeds in a matter of days by inhibiting the enzyme EPSP synthesase and causes defects in embryos of frogs and chicken. Malformations occur in face, skull, developing brain, and spinal column.
There is now growing number of glyphosate resistant weeds, and is not washed away in crops. What more, the seeds/plants to which glyphosate is sprayed is resistant to the herbicide. How can your body metabilize such a molecule without causing toxic reaction?
That is why there is the proposition 37 which is being voted in California.
