From Dr Mercola - reduce your fructose intake and reduce your blood pressure

From Mercola Articles

This ia a rather contrarian if no a renegade view on reducing blood pressure,  While he also recommends exercise, other food intakes, the main thesis of Mercola is to reduce fructose intake to reduce blood pressure. He also recommends breast feeding of infants (vs formula milk) as the infants who are breast fed for 12 months have less risk of developing high blood pressure.disease.

Now going back to fructose. Those who have high fructose intake of 74 grams or more (the equivalent of 2.5 cans of sugary drinks) have 77% chance of developing high blood pressure.   High insulin level  = high blood pressure

Logic:

1.  High insulin level causes the excretion of magnesium.  Magnesium goes out with the urine.  Magnesium causes muscles to relax.  With low levels of magnesium, muscles ,especially of blood vessels constrict, lessening free flow of blood thus elevating blood pressure.

2.  High insulin level causes sodium retention which causes high blood pressure.

3  Fructose leads to elevated uric acid.  Uric acid causes inhibition of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is a muscle relaxant  especially of  blood vessels.  When blood vessels are not relaxed, then there is constriction leading to high bp.  Those who have elevated uric acid level usually have high bp

THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT INSIGHT BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN OF HIGH URIC ACID LEVEL (gout) BUT THEY DO NOT EAT MUCH LEGUMES OR PROTEIN BUT THEY TAKE A LOT OF SODA DRINKS!

Thus we have to:

1.  Lessen sources of fructose like softdrinks and grains (not whole grains)  rice, bread.  Fructose consumption per day should be 25 grams or less.  One can of soda would contain 40 grams of fructose and very easily exceed that limit.

2. Increase Omega 3 intake

3.  Reduce caffeine (vs the benefits from coffee)

4   Consume fermented food

5.  Exercise

to help lower blood pressure
