Benefits of candy (mostly chocolate) for health - anti stroke, heart atttack, cancer!

Live healthy and long

Repost from Newsmax health   by Sylvia Booth Hubbard  | August 11, 2013

Some candies are said to be harmful to health;  they cause early tooth decay, and furobacteria which could be bad for the health.  But two candies, dark chocolate and peppermint have plenty of health benefits:

1.  Reduced risk of heart attack and stroke.  Eating dark chocolate regularly according to British Medical Journal reduced risk of stroke by 49% and heart attack by 39%.  This is because of the flavonoids in dark chocolate;

2. Anti depressant - chocolate contains both serotonin and phenylethylethiamine (PEA) that both enhance mood.

3.  Longevity  - a study by Harvard School of Public Health found out that those who ate candies (chocolate) several times a month, lived a year longer than those who did not.  This could be due to the phenol, found also in  red wine.  The scientist speculated that phenol reduced the oxidation of low density cholesterol lipoprotein,  and enhance immune function

Diabetes  -  chocolate  increased the level of HDL (good cholesterol) called glabridin in diabetic patients. Thus it is suggested by researcher Steve Atkin of University of Hull, that chocolate should be part of sensible diet of diabetic.   Flavonoids in licorice, it was found out,  reversed learning and memory problems of diabetic patient.

5.  Coughing - chocolate contains theobromine that calms down vagus nerve.  It can be better than codeine in controlling cough.

6.  Cancer -  researchers of affiliate (Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center) of Georgetown University Medical center found chocolate to be good in controlling cancer.  A compound in cocoa beans, known as GECGC was found to be most effective in fast growing cancer of colon, cervical and leukemia, and at doses one eats.

Health benefits of eating chocolate

Live healthy and long

Repost from Newsmaxhealth | Feb 2013

For those who still feel guilty about eating chocolates, and although chocolate is associated with Valentine, eating chocolate, especially the dark ones has very clear health benefits:  (mainly because of anti oxidants that it contain)

Cardiovascular diseases.  Various studies have shown the beneficial effect of chocolate vs CVD:
-in Germany, an 8 year study involving 20,000 subject showed that eating 2 oz of chocolate per day, decreased risk of stroke and heart attacks by 39%.  Wow.

-in Australia, those women aged over 70% who ate chocolates were 60% less likely to die from heart attacks.

Chocolates were thought to have blood thinning properties.

Dementia.  American Heart Association journal  Hypertension said that drinking cocoa flavored flavonol  for 8 weeks showed improvement in memory.

Obesity. It is said to be a lazy man's exercise.  Eating chocolate, while it increases caloric intake caused decrease in weight

Diabetes.  Flavinoids in cocoa decreases insulin resistance enabling the body to metabolize glucose effectively thus decreasing demand for insulin

Depression.  Chocolate contains PEA (phenethylamine) the same compound when your brain releases when you fall in love.   triggering release of endorphins, the feel good hormone.  It also contains anadamine which stimulates the receptors in brain as marijuana.

Early death.   Those who ate chocolate lived longer for a year than those who did not.

Chocolate is also good for cough and migraine.

Chocolate anyone?

Minerals Rich Healing Plants from JC Kurian

Effective Cures Can be Cheap

I tried to collate some interesting data on the J.C. Kurian Book on healing Plants.

Plants Fruits rich in minerals:

l.   Sapodilla (Chico fruit)  (Achras sapota Linn)  p.6  Rich in magnesium
2.  Beet (Beta vulgaris Linn) p.24 Rich in zinc
3.  Cat whiskers (Orthosiphon aristhatus Beth)  p. l0l rich in potassium
4.  Date palm  (Phoenix dactylfera Linn) p. l07, rich in potassium, phosphorous, zinc magnesium
5.  Pea (Pisum Sativum Linn) p. ll3.  rich in calcium, phosphorous, iron, potassium, magnesium
6.  Eggplant (Solaneum melangoma Linn) iron and potassium.  It is also rich in arginine which is useful for the heart and muscle build up.  Please take note that eggplant was responsible for an almost perfect cure rate for 80,000 cases of skin cancer in Royal London Hospital;  the extract BC5 was the agent responsible for the cure.

Zinc is impt for sexual function, potassium for heart and general body energy, magnesium for proper functioning of the nervous system, calcium is for bone growth, iron is for blood health.  Now you know the mineral rich foods:   Pea, and date palm.  Go for them
