The traditional push up can be modified to increase strength of body core. You can do:

1.    Reverse push up

2.    Elevate your feet as you do push up.

3.    Place your hand on exercise ball;

4.    Practice Kegel exercise (practiced by women who are to give birth;  squeezing your tummy as you stop peeing)

5.  Raising one leg as you do the push up.

6.  One hand push up

7.   3 minutes push up -  how many push up can you in 3 minutes.

8.  Plyometric push up  -  as you lower your body, rest your sternum on the floor, then explosively push yourself up.

Crunches is not the only way to strengthen your core -  27 muscles comprising your abdomen, back and pelvis
