Drinking wine lessens risk of heart disease and cancer

A study in France involving 35, 292 men aged over 28 years old showed that when Frenchmen that when 50% of alcohol consumption came from wine, subjects showed lower death rate from cancer of lung, lip, oral cavity, pharynx, rectal,  and bladder diseases.  Risk of dying from cancer was reduced by 20% and from cardio vascular diseases - 40%.

This was published in the Journal of Epidimiology and Community.  It also mentioned that life expectancy is increased by 5 years by drinking half glass of wine a day.
