Studies have shown that eating  four servings of lean fish  a week, and one serving of one fatty fish a week for ten years lessen the risk of having rheumatoid arthritis.  This study was published  in Annals of Rheumatic Disease

The anti rheumatoid property could be the long chain of Omega 3  PUFA.  (polyunsaturated fatty acid).  Omega 3 is a well known anti oxidant anti inflammatory

The research was conducted in Stockholm Sweden  at Karolinska Institute involving 32, 000 women whose dietary habits were observed.  This was part of Swedish Mammography Cohort Study
