Live healthy and long

From Newsmaxhealth | April 4, 2013

Cancer and heart disease cause the most deaths in US, but it is dementia that takes a toll on health care expenses.  It is not about drugs or medical expenses, but the help to get the patients cope up with the debility. Costs are as much as $157 to 215 billion according to the Rand study.

There are as many as 4.1 million sufferers much lower than the 5 million initial estimate from the Alzheimer Association.  Alzheimer is a form of dementia and is the 6th leading cause fo death in US

Direct costs for dementia:  medicine and nursing is $109 billion, vs $102 billion for heart disease and $77 billion for cancer.  What is worrisome is the greying of USA - there is growing number of aging people.

The good news here is that VCO has been found to be good vs Alzheimer and that statins should be avoided to lessen incidence of Alzheimer.
