New Heart Muscles from Skin Cells? This is Revolutionary

Please check out the article I read at Newsmaxhealth.com:

Cardiomyocytes from Skin Discovery at Haifa Israel

                               Lior Gepstein

Researchers from Haifa Israel are experimenting with growing beating heart muscle cells from the patients" own skin cells.  The team is led by Lior Gepstein of  Technion Israel Institute of Technology.  Their work was published at the European Heart Journal.

Their source are not embryonic stem cells (the use of which is controversial) is hiPSC (human induced pluropotent stem cells)

They took skin cells from two men aged 5l and 6l, injected 3 genes and valpoic acid into the nucleus.  The researcher were able to transform the skin cells into beating heart muscle cells.  (cardio myocytes) Further studies can be undertaken in the next l0 years.

This is a revolutionary method that could be better than stem cells therapy for heart disease and heart transplantation. I look forward to its successful roll out.
